(Warrensburg) A first time feature winner along with several multiple feature winners visited victory lane tonight with 74 drivers overall treating the CMS race fans to several of the best dirt racing features of the season. The first night for Limited Late Model increased payouts along with the weekly Contingency Connection awards produced a good field of fast cars with Danny Monroe coming out on top with his first feature win of the season. The 305 Sprints had a few new drivers, but Josh Fisher wins again for his fourth feature in a row. The Street Stock feature was another exciting race with Gary Hemme finally taking the checkers for the second time this year. The B- modified event had some new drivers to CMS with Tyler Lewis crossing the line with his first feature event ever in his young career. The absolute best modified race of the year in the Mighty Modified division produced a close finish with Joe Bradshaw edging out Dave Meyer to the finish line for his second feature victory at CMS.

Brett Rollert led the Late Model field to the green flag along with MLRA driver Alan Vaughn from Belton on the outside. Rollert held the early lead after winning the first heat race of the evening with Jimmy Morris in hot pursuit. Unfortunately, Morris and Jon Binning had to leave the track early for mechanical problems. Walt Imhoff then was battling hard with Vaughn for second after Imhoff started in ninth. Imhoff was charging on the high side with Vaughn attempting to pass on the low side. Meanwhile, Danny Monroe eventually worked his way around both cars moving into second place after starting in seventh place. He finally inherited the lead when Rollert pulled off with an overheated engine. Vaughn drove hard into second after passing Imhoff and finished there with Danny Monroe driving it home for his first feature win of the season. Richard Leigh ran a smart race from an eleventh place start to a fourth place finish.

Another wild and crazy Street Stock race started with Brett Nail leading early and John Ebert battling for the lead just behind him. Also working their way into the mix early in the race was Gary Hemme and Doug Walrath. Hemme, a two time feature winner this season went to work on the high side with Nail and Ebert battling side by side. Jay Lyle then moved into the fray on lap 9, but later spun out side by side with Ebert who caused the spin in turn four moving both to the rear of the field. Hemme then passed Nail with his signature high side move into first place after an unfortunate caution for John Miller picking up some a plastic piece on the front end of his stock car. Hemme finally survived a scare on lap nineteen after slamming hard into the front side wall then hung on for the victory. Bobby Raybourn ran a smart race by dropping back early after starting in the second row before moving back up into a hard earned third place finish. In what had to be the best Mighty Modified race in several years at CMS Jumping Joe Bradshaw and Moving Dave Meyer battled their way for the checkers in a memorable racing event. The Mighty Modified A-feature started with a strong field of twenty three cars after twenty eight cars entered for the night of racing. Several cars had mechanical problems during the four heat races so twenty six drivers were slated to start the feature event.

Bradshaw and Meyers started in the front row with several strong drivers including Jim Moody, Justin Boney and Aaron Marrant at the back of the field. On lap three Meyers was barely in the lead when Clay Langley spun in turn two taking several cars with him including Charlie Ebert, Ed Griggs and Bob King. King, Ebert and Griggs had to leave the track with various mechanical problems and Langley left a lap later with a tire problem as well. The battle up front between Bradshaw and Meyer made for a race to remember for the fans and the drivers alike.

Meanwhile Moody was moving his way up from a seventeenth place start into fourth with a low side pass around Dean Wille who was in third at the time. Just behind them was Terry Schultz, Justin Boney and Aaron Marrant three wide coming around turn four on lap seven. On lap nine Bradshaw would take the lead passing low on turn four then Meyer would pass him again with a slide from the low side into turn two. They both ran side by side into each other around turn four on the next lap, but managed to keep the cars straight.

Aaron Marrant watched this from behind while passing cars almost every lap all night from his twenty third starting position and made a dash for the top spot while Bradshaw and Meyer were battling for the lead. Finally Bradshaw seemed to take the lead for good, but Meyer charged hard from behind and came up just short at the end with Bradshaw in the lead at the checkers. This was Bradshaw’s second feature win in three weeks at CMS and along with some big early season victories at other area tracks he will be the one to shot for this year in the Mighty Modified division.

It was also good to see Justin Boney finish a race in sixth place after some early season troubles at CMS. Dean Wille used his B- Modified machine with some upgrades to a Mighty Mod to finish fifth after working up as high as third. Aaron Marrant continues to make amazing moves from back of the pack starting positions and may be one to watch if he ever starts up front.
