Springfield,Mo.-While the weather has been cool this racing season,Brandon Maggard has been as hot as a normal racing season as the Springfield area driver showed everyone the fast way around the Quick-Quarter of the racy SpringfieldRaceway Sat night as he grabbed his second consecutive USRA Modified feature win in a nail biter as over 80 raceteams checked into the pits.

The 20 lap Modified feature saw 17 strong drivers take the green as Arkansas driver Todd Knight grabbed the opening lead with veteran Ron McClellan following closely. On lap 2,McClellan shot to the lead as Jody Tillman and Erik Maggard were coming forward.Tillman who used the top groove of the track took the lead on lap 4 as Jim Body was working forward. The first caution waved on lap 5 as Knight and Maggard made contact ending both their strong runs.

On the restart,Tillman would find Jesse Stovall making his way forward the challange as Brandon Maggard was moving up from the 10th starting spot. The lead trio thrilled the crowd as they provided excellent side by side action while points runner-up Mitch Keeter had powered to the forth place spot and closing. On lap 16,Maggard running the bottom of the track made a smooth move to the inside of leader Tillman to grab the lead as Stovall was moving both high and low contending for the lead.On lap 18,Tillman and Stovall made contact as Stovall went sideways in turn 3 bringing out only the second yellow. On the restartMaggard pulled away with Mitch Keeter slipping under Tillman to take home the runner-up spot as Tillman,Bobby Pearish and point leader Jackie Dalton completed the top 5 as 14 of the 17 starters completed on the lead lap. With Keeter's runner-up spot,he moved to within 1 point of Dalton with the season championships next Sat night.

The SportMods saw yet another new face in the winners circle as the 20 car field took the green with veteran Brad Moad taking the opening lead with Jon Yeoman Jr following.Yeoman would retire 2 laps later with problems.Jerry Lankton moved into the runner-up spot and applied pressure to Moad as the lead duo pulled away from the field on the long Green flag run leaving several to battle for third place including Jimmy VanZandt,Darrell Jackson,Darrin Crisler,Roy Maynard and others.Up front,Lankton would grab the lead on lap 8 only to have Moad take it back on lap 9.On lap 17,Lankton jumped the top cushion allowing moad to pull away and become the 11th different winner this season as Lankton recovered to hold on to the runner-up spot as VanZandt,Jackson and B feature winner and point leader Billy Street completed the top 5.13 of the 20 starters finished on the lead lap as the second year class continues to provide an outstanding car count and racing. With the 5th place finish Billy Street will capture the season title with close battles behind.

The LateModel Season championships would be decided tonight with point leader Jeremy Manes and Sundance Keepper bringing the field to the green with Keepper taking the early lead with Manes and Show-Me Series leader Justin Wells following closely. On lap 3,Wells how won last week at Springfield made the high groove pass around Keepper took over the top spot as Chris Morelock followed into the third place position.Caution waved on lap 5 as Mark Penticuff,Kevin Henson,Jon Driskell and Bill McMurtrie got together in turn 2.Only Penticuff would continue. On the restart Keepper applied pressure to the fast moving Wells as Jordan Holloway was the fast moving driver coming from the rear of the field.Wells started to slowly but distance between himslef and Keepper and Morelock,Manes,Holloway were battling. The 2nd and final caution waved on lap 16 for Randy Galloway and Kevin Brown.Brown would retire and Galloway continued. On the restart,Keepper picked the low lane on the double-file restart but Wells proved to strong taking the victory with Keepper,a fast moving Holloway,Morelock and Chris Deaton following.Jeremy Manes captured the LateModel season championship his first in stockcar racing and it was 10 years ago to the date where Manes took a go-karting title at Springfield.

The Bomber feature provided the crowd of a Green,White,Checkered feature as Tyler Schoen jumped out to the early lead in commanding style with Mike Willoughby followed.Willoughby would head to the pits on lap 3 ended his night moving Mike Hailman into the runner-up spot. With Schoen staying on the low groove,Hailman began his charge on the top side of the track as Tyler Chainey was strong tonight moving into third place while point contenders James Redus,Robert High and last weeks winner Shawn Strong were locked into a tight battle along with Tyrel Jones.Up front Hailman caught the leader Schoen on lap 7 and side by side action kept everyone wondering. On lap 9,Hailman made the very top of the cushion stick and captured his first Bomber feature of the season with Schoen,Chaney,High and Strong completing the top 5.James Redus is holding a slim 2 point lead over High with the title to be claimed Sat night.

The Legends kept the theme of close racing and excellent finishes going as the 14 car field took the Green with Tony Jenson grabbing the early lead and pulling away as Paul Horton and Kaleb Copher battled. The caution waved on lap 3 as Tyler horton and Billy Cottrill got together on the frontstretch ending both the drivers night. On the restart,Jenson pulled away on to spin in fornt of the eintire field in turn 4.Everyone made it by with no damage putting Copher in the lead.On the restart,Rob Watson applied pressure to the leader Copher as the top 7 were racing back and forth. With Copher looking strong,Dave comer and Justin Comer moved to the middle groove and began to close up slowly. On lap 14,Dave Comer moved around Watson for second and began his charge to the front after starting the feature 13th.On lap 17,Comer made the middle lane stick and just edged Copher for his forth win in a row with Copher,Watson,Dave Bauer and Justin Comer rounding out the top 5.
