Drew Earley, out of Cedar Hill, MO cruised to victory Friay night in Gateway’s 8 & 9 Jr. Dragster points race. In round one, he had a .125 starting line advantage to take the win over Chase Bittle in a double-breakout race, in round two he had the bye thanks to his excellent reaction time, and in the semi-final and final, both of his opponents turned on the red light giving Drew the win. Runner-up Zac Barnett was a tough competitor all night but left a little too early in the final round in which Barnett ended up running a 13.419 on a 13.41 dial. With the win, Earley moved up to 2nd place in Gateway’s 8 & 9 Jr. Dragster points, while Barnett moves to sixth. Tommy Heaney is still on top as he made it to 2nd round.

Cory Gierten would rather be lucky than good on any day. In the final round, Gierten was the faster car by .09 seconds over Cody “Campete” Jeffs and that would pay off as both contestants red lit but Jeffs took the loss. Gierten was dynamite all night as he held huge starting line advantages in rounds two and three which lead him to victory lane. Jeffs defeated current points leader Kelsey Beimfohr in the semi-final round as Kelsey got a little too anxious and turned on the red light. Cody “Campete” jumps to 2nd in points, while Gierten moves to 4th in Gateway’s 10-12 Jr. Dragster Points.

In the biggest class of the night, Brittney Pour pulls through as she took home the trophy Friday night in Gateway’s 13+ Jr. Dragster Point Standings. In round two, Pour had a huge starting line disadvantage, but managed to pull out a victory over previous points leader Kegan Hagedorn. The final paired up Pour and Jennifer Jo Costello as Pour had a .050 starting line advantage, which led to Costello running too fast at the top end giving Pour the victory. Costello had to earn every victory she got as she did not receive a bye all night. The race of the night was between Costello and Chris “Shotty” Kesel. Costello had a .012 light to Kesel’s .015 and Costello ran DEAD-ON the number with a 7.900 on a 7.90 dial while Kesel could only run a 7.962 on a 7.94 dial. Pour takes over the points lead as Costello jumps from 12th place last week all the way to 5th.

Scott Lowery, out of Festus, MO, won one round Friday night and it was good enough to take his ’57 Bel Air to the winners circle. There were only two entries as Gary Bowers gave him the easy win with a red light in the final. Lowery recorded a .027 reaction time and ran a 7.328 on a 7.20 dial at 166.82 MPH.

In a repeat of last week’s final, Timmy and Todd Tosto lined ‘em up to face off for Gateway’s Stick Category title. Just like before, Timmy took the better light and this time was able to hold off his brother Todd for the win as Timmy had a .091 light and ran a 10.624 on a 10.58 dial. Todd recorded a .115 reaction time but could only run a 9.959 on a 9.78 dial. (photos available)
