The Budweiser IMCA Late Model Points chase came to a close at Quincy Raceways Sunday night as Mark Burgtorf claimed his 11th Quincy Raceways Track Points Championship in 12 years. Henry Delonjay, Joe Hooper and Eddie Dieker also claimed feature event wins as the season starts to wind down.

The IMCA Late Model Points closed on Sunday as the track points championships were decided at all IMCA Late Model tracks this weekend. Mark Burgtorf grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag in the Season Championship feature event with Lonnie Bailey in hot pursuit. Bailey pressured Burgtorf for the lead until the 25th lap of the 30 lapper when a lapped car caused Bailey to lose a couple of car lengths to the multi-time Track Points Champ. Burgtorf pulled out a comfortable lead and held on to take his 6th points paying feature win of the season in claiming both the Track Points Championship and the Season Championship Feature win. Bailey held on for second with Brent Slocum in third, Boone McLaughlin in fourth and Jamie Wilson in fifth. Burgtorf and Bailey both took heat race wins while Joey Gower grabbed the hardware in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash. The final points standing show Burgtorf in the top spot with Bailey 34 points behind in second, 2002 Track Points Champ Brent Slocum 53 points down in third, Jomie Wilson in fourth and Ron Elbe in fifth.

Henry Delonjay added to his points lead by taking the win in the Miller Lite A-Modified feature event. Michael Long jumped out to the early lead and held onto the lead until slipping high in turn 3 to give the veteran Delonjay the only opportunity he needed to take over the lead. Delonjay held off Long to take the win with Jerry Davis in third, Ryan Meyer in fourth and Ted Allen in fifth. Meyers fourth place finish allowed Delonjay to increase his points lead to 10 over Meyer 525 to 515 with 3 points races left in the 2003 season. Jerry Davis and Long took the heat race victories.

Joe Hooper made it known that he is back by taking his second straight win in the B-Modified feature event. Hooper led all 18 laps to take a convincing victory over Wyatt Lantz in second, Joe Bliven in third, Terry Houston in fourth and Bobby Cookson in fifth. Hooper, Houston and Lantz all took heat race wins with Wyatt Lantz taking the win in the P&S Auto and Truck Collision Repair Trophy Dash. The Track Points Championship battle is far from over with Tony Dunker holding a 12 point lead over Lantz in second, Joe Bliven four more back in third and Marty Hull one more back in fourth.

Wyatt Lantz and Ryan Meyer were crowned P&S Auto and Truck Collision Repair Trophy Dash Champions for the B and A Modified divisions as the Trophy Dash Points chase came to a close for the 2003 season.

The Bomber class saw a big shake up as the Track Points chase was turned upside down in the tech area after the feature event. Eddie Dieker climbed his way into the lead of the Bomber feature event in only four laps from his 5th row starting spot and pulled away to his 5th feature win of the season. Dieker was followed across the finish line by Billy Genenbacher in second but Genenbacher was disqualified from his second place finish in the tech area after an illegally altered intake manifold was found on his Mopar. Craig Spilker was then moved into the second spot with Pete Gramc Jr in third, Jeff Kindhart in fourth and Tom Damon in fifth. Genenbacher’s disqualification moved Steve Carlin into the points lead by 6 over Genebacher followed closely by Eddie Dieker in third five more points back. Matt Bockenfeld and Louis Miller took the wins in the B-Mains while Spilker, Carlin, Gramc Jr and Dieker grabbed the checkered flags in the heat races.
