Lonnie Wheatley, WINCHESTER, Ind. (August 30, 2018) – Four races over the course of three nights is on the docket this weekend for Brady Bacon after last weekend’s Kokomo Smackdown was cut short due to weather.

Before Mother Nature postponed Saturday’s Smackdown finale though, Bacon raced forward each night in the Frolic Bar & Grill No. 99 Sprint Car to lock into the finale that has been reset for Sunday, September 9.

This weekend’s action includes a pair of rescheduled USAC Sprint Car events at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, IL, and Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO, on Saturday before wrapping up the weekend with another USAC Silver Crown run aboard the Klatt Motorsports No. 6 entry atop the one-mile Du Quoin State Fairgrounds dirt oval. Bacon makes it a four-race weekend by taking in the MOWA Winged 410-ci Sprint Car portion of Friday’s card at Tri-City Speedway to make for a double-duty night.

“Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can get these races in at these tracks, we haven’t had much luck with the weather there in the past,” Bacon commented.

Bacon has climbed to fourth in Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car points following last weekend’s Kokomo Smackdown preliminary events.

After racing to a fifth-place finish in the Wednesday night #GYATK Fan Appreciation special event, Bacon followed it up with finishes of third on Thursday night and then fourth on Friday night to secure a position in the rescheduled Smackdown finale by sitting fourth in overall Smackdown points.

Bacon rallied forward in both Smackdown preliminary features, racing from eighth to the podium on Thursday night and then climbing another handful of positions from ninth to fourth on Friday.

“I felt like we had the best car at the end of the race,” Bacon said of the Thursday night Smackdown opener. “The track was up top and it took a while to get rolling.”

Bacon was on the move as well on Friday before settling in for the fourth-place finish.

“We were better than Justin (third-place finisher Grant) on Friday, but everyone was hitting the wall and flipping in turn two so we just tried to hold on and finish,” Bacon explained.

With three top-fives in as many nights last week, Bacon will try to carry that into this weekend’s action in Illinois and Missouri.
