The new Stealth carburetor (or any other carburetor for that matter) with the spacer plate between the base plate of the carburetor and the main body of the carburetor is not allowed in the C.A.R.S. Weekly Racing Series.

This was decided in the interest of the racer and his or her pocketbook. We are trying to keep this class affordable. These types of carbs are more expensive. If you have the carb with the spacer plate contact me and I will assist you in getting it converted. Stealth has agreed to cooperate. I am told it is an easy fix. AK

Yes, we may do so in future years. We opted not to mess with the shocks for 2006 since a number of guys already had them while running Fastrac. You will see some changes for 2007 by mid year. This may include but is not limited to headers, pulleys etc. All in the interest of controlling cost and increasing competition. We will consult with our members (racers) before finalizing any decision. AK

2007 MIDYEAR?Changes in the middle of a season?

That means that rule changes for 2007 will be completed by mid year 2006 so the racers have plenty of time to react. Sorry for the confusion.

Wow, I'm really impressed. I have to give you guys, Al, Sean, Tim two thumbs up for keeping an open mind in the spirit of competitiveness. Too many times sanctioning bodies become too complacient with initial rules without realizing the maintenance associated with them. It seems that alot of those sanctioning bodies become politically(certain party's) motivated, which I dont see happening here yet, and hopefully wont. I know since taking much interest in the class, I have realized the old sayin to be true," limit a racer to something and he'll go crazy in other places." That is always goin to be true and theres only so much that can be done about it, since racers are usually pretty good thinkers outside of the box. But by doing like you're talkin about, you'll slow that knee-jerk reaction down, for the better of the Racers, Series, Fans, and the soon to be Fans.

my 2 cents:

1. no canister, or double adjustables
2. serious fuel additive checks
3. no custom headers, max length collectors, no slip in systems
4. up the weight to 2350/602, 2450/604, I know that sounds heavy, but right now one of the most worried comments I here is the disscussion that the 602 wont run with the 604 on the basis that most cars with the 602 cant stay close to 2300, where most all 604 are right at 2400, this has discouraged a few already because they felt they were giving up too much running their 602 at 2375 and the same size guy with a 604 could add lead to his car in the right spots(which is an advantage), have 35 extra hp, and only be 25 lbs heavier. Thats 75lbs short of the recommended 100lb weight break.

Thanks, best of luck to everybody

Thanks for the comments. I want to re-iterate that we will not make any changes until our members get a chance to voice their opinions. Good luck to everyone. The season is near.

Sean just to clear your statement about the base plate ,this is not a rule change or an infraction of the rules this rule has been in place from the beginning I believe it is rule #8 under carburetors

Any 750 CFM Carb or smaller. Must have 1 11/16th base plate maximum. No exceptions.(measured with go/no-go gauge)

1” (one inch) Spacer maximum on Crate Engines. 1” is measured top to bottom of spacer including any gaskets that are between any parts of spacer on 2 piece spacers.

Please take time to check your plate. It is your responsibility to make sure its right. It is the Series responsibility to make sure its legal.

Spacer must not be more than 1” at any point. Not just around the edges

No spacer may protrude into intake.

One gasket allowed on top from carb to spacer. One gasket allowed from bottom of carb to intake.

Legal gaskets are standard gaskets only. (Completely up to the discretion of Official)

Two throttle springs strongly recommended!!

billet base plates may be used but cannot be taller than standard Holley base plate. (.570 maximum)
