(Paducah, KY) Paducah International Raceway is announcing a change in date for the Cache River Chevrolet Championship Night presented by Popeye’s Chicken.
Originally scheduled for Friday September 28th, 2007, the Cache River Chevrolet Championships presented by Popeye’s Fried Chicken will now be held on Friday September 21st, 2007. The weekend of September 21st was originally scheduled for the ATV Nationals, which will now be held at a different venue.
All seven classes will be running at Paducah International Raceway including UMP Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, and CARS Crate Late Models on the high-banked 3/8th mile oval. Joining the other classes on the big track will be the Vintage cars running features only. On the 1/5th mile track at PIR will be the UMP sanctioned 4-Cylinder Warriors and the Outlaw Mini-Sprints.
After the cancellation of last weeks racing due to rain, Kevin Cole of Buckner, Il leads Mayfield’s Randy Sellars in the Late Model division. Jeff Elliott is chasing Justin Houston for the top spot in the UMP Modifieds. Jeff Walston leads Ricky Gilbert in the Crate late Model division, while Darrell Hartman has five drivers within 338 points of him in the Street Stocks. Jarrett Cathey leads the Outlaw Mini-Sprints and Jeff Bailey has a 38-point lead in the Warrior division over Derek Patterson.
The gates will open for the Cache River Championship Night presented by Popeye’s Chicken at 5pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and Kids 12 and under are Free. Hot laps will begin at 6:45 with racing at 7:30pm.
NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt Jr, Ken Schrader and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of Co-Owners as a partner in September of 2006. The 3/8th mile high banked oval will host several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights, The USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge. Paducah International Raceway races every Friday night and is located off Interstate-24 at exit 11 in Paducah, Kentucky.
