Callaway/Fulton

RAMS#20

09 MCS Ministock Champion
Callaway has posted their Hornet rules. They look a lot like the RAMS rules except for the FWD cars and the compression rule.

Caloway Hornet Rules!

I saw this Jack:
It looks as though Mel has less influence then I gave him credit for.
The rules look similar, but a few of them will not jive with MCS as they
stood from the 07 season.

CAR AND BODY:

RULE 21.-The roll cage bars can't extend into the front past the fire wall or rear into the trunk of the car.....?????
(This has to be a miss print, but it is in there none the less.)
(This will disqualify the RAMS style cars!)

STEERING:
RULE 1.- Stock steering for make and model ONLY.
(We can't use a quickener?)

WHEELS AND TIRES:
RULE 2.-Any DOT Tire up to a certain size and
Hoosier Take offs from the Modifies but only A-40 compound?
(This rule might not be too hard to handle)

ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN:
RULE 5.-Random Compression checks? 5 psi over stock?
(The Compression rule will kill the MCS Mini's.)

RULE 7.-NO PORTING OR POLISHING rule.
(There goes our new heads out the window.)

From the looks of this we will not bother to go out to Fulton if we have to change the cars this much.
I thought we were going to be in good shape to race at two tracks this year, but it doesn't look good so far.
I am going to wait until they have the Street Stock class rules up and see if we could run with those boys out there.
That might be fun!

I like some of the restrictions that they are using to keep the cost down, but the rules of these "Mini Stock" or "Hornet" classes are just too diverse.
We need a Sanctioning Body to pick this up and write the rules in stone using the premise that these are low budget and or beginners classes.
Until we see more interest in the cars and the class, we can't sell it to the powers that be.
Congrats to the Hornet class.
I understand that UMP is now watching over the class.
GOOD FOR YOU GUYS!

See you all soon!

They also have no slider rear ends which was removed from the MCS rules last year.

I agree that you can not run at both tracks. Build one to be competitive at MCS and you are illegal at Fulton. Build one to run at Fulton and you get spanked at MCS.

IT looks as if they are heading in the right direction at Fulton. This years rules let the drives set up their cars more. They are more like real racecars than bone stockers. If their pay stays the same as last year they will be paid pretty well also.
I 100% agree with you on the sanctioning body overseeing this class Ed. With every track having their own set of rules the class will never take off and show its full potential.

Check This Out!

Hey Jack:

GO TO http://www.evergreenspeedway.net/artman/publish/article_384.shtml
This was real cool to read until I got to the part about installing a windshield and I realized it was asphalt rules I was reading...
I like the rules though.
Maybe we could convert them to dirt!:p
Supposedly these are NASCAR Mini Stock Rules!
I did not know they had a set of Mini Stock rules
for the NASCAR weekly series.
I wish we had some pavement to run on using these rules.
This sounds like some real fun as well.:D
I don't think the Ole duramax can make the trip to WASHINGTON State
pulling that rig.
Don't you have to cross the Rockies to get there?

See you soon!

Jack sliders are not allowed at MCS it is in the rules.

Those rules are alot like MCS you can port and polish do anything or put anything in your motor, they just have the weight thing acording to what size motor you have.

Sorry Jim I missed that somehow. I thought I had reread the rules and it wasn't in there this summer when you told me the rear end in your truck slid.

Do you know when the new 2008 rules will be posted? I am sure allot of people would like to see them before they build their motors.

We only have a few months left and I am starting to get excited about working on the car for the 08 season. The weather is suppose to warm up so lets all get out and get our cars fixed up so wee look good out there on opening night!!!

My rearend had shackles not sliders thats what other people were saying. I guess the rules are the same as last year, you will have to call mel and ask him about them.

MCS Rules

You CANNOT put anything in motor according to MEL. Dad called Mel and asked about the rules. NO stroker motors allowed. Not sure about the rest, maybe Dad can comment OR your best bet is to call Mel. I wish the rules would be printed so there was no here say on rules. I believe the rules will remain the same as last year, whatever rules were established??

Some of MELS Rules as told to Me on the PH.

Stock crank, any aftermarket rod, M S D Int. O K, Heads can be ported an polished, CHEVES can have aluminum heads ( Fords no ), an MEL said NO STROKERS allowed, if anybody caught will not race at MCS. That is all I came away with MEL on the Phone. ps Same tire rule as last year.
