THE GRANITE ROCKET
Can one or all u promoters post exactly what it takes to run a track nudely, I have been talking to someone about checking into Greenville maybe for next year to run on Sunday nites, we are just checking, I know some people up that way that might help getting a hearing with Bond county, or the fair grounds, Was wondering if you promoters would shed a little light on this,, how do you get started,,,,,,,,, Thanks for any input,, thanks for reading,,,,,,,,

ok,,in order to make it work you need to get more local young people interested,,do what macon did and have a highschool class of hornets..that will put the local teens in the stands,,a hs id is all thats needed,,have once a month after the races demo derby,,st,charles did that and the stands were full

Talk to Tim Herbse {sp}, All American race talk - Petal to the metal / Motor racing Monday. He ran that track 15 or so years ago.

Tim herbst ran it around 2001 or so he could probably give you some info and ron wick ran it not to long after that

OK,,i look at my self in the mirror and see a tall blond surfer dude,,ok so i have had a few coctails,,back to the topic,,the first year greenville was open i ran a street stock special,,with lap money and the 750 gaurenteed to win a guy could make a grand,,back then that was good payola,,it rained the first time we tried, had it the next week but the stands were empty,,the pits on the other had were full,,40+ street stocks and 25 or so mods,,took a bath but we paid what we said we would..dealing with the fair board was not all that bad, they said they had a curfu but when it got close the cops said carry on...

i remember dads first modified win the cops were makin laps around the hoarse track.....past curfew the promoter wasnt ganna run it and just pay the lineup as finish positions.......dad was cool with that he was sittin front row outside.......but most of the other guys weren't so cool with it so they pulled out onto the track and lined up.............so dad didnt have a choice and crawled out there.......and i'll be damned won his first race in a mod.............jim werner jr was on the pole and ran 2nd

it got tense, but when the cops gave me their blessing the pressure was off,the first and last tiome i promoted a race, plenty of auctions and swap meets,,

I think if someone could get the track going again it would be great...I would run there ....loved running there in the past

Here's a thought i had. What if Highland and Greenville run as one on sat nights.
Week 1 Highland would run Late models,B mods.Sportsman and Pro 4s. Greenville would run Mods Crates,SS. and Bombers (stock motor, trans and street tires) or maybe team cars. Then the next week Highland would run Mods,Crates,SS, and bombers. Greenville would run Late Models,b mods,Sportsman and Pro 4s. Run like that all season with 1 Champion for each class orTrack champions for each track.

Just a thought
