Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) Gears up for Kids’ Night at the Races this Saturday

This Saturday night August 13th, the CMS staff will proudly host its young race fans for the track’s annual ‘Kids’ Night at the Races.’ There are several special events planned for the kids throughout the night; including foot races for the young fans ages 3 thru 12, a TV/DVD Combo giveaway at intermission, and kids ages 3 thru 12 will receive one free hot dog, bag of popcorn and a drink just for attending the races! During intermission the TV/DVD Combo will be given away based upon a drawing. The Kids’ Night committee has been busy planning for well over a month for this night and has collected several items from area businesses and CMS racecar drivers to be given out throughout the night. Several loyal and generous CMS fans donated money and items for the event as well. Some of the CMS racecar drivers have donated pictures and other items for the kids and many of those same drivers will be down on the track when the kids run their races on the front stretch. Yes, you read correctly, the kids actually get to go down on the front straightaway of the speedway and have races of their own! For the foot races, the age groups will be divided up amongst boys and girls in the following age-group categories; 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12. Each age-group category in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions will go home with a winning prize for their efforts. There will be ‘goody bags’ for each of the young fans between ages 3 and 12. The bags will be filled with various racing-related surprises. The CMS staff wishes to thank all local businesses, drivers and fans who donated items, money, pictures and prizes for this special night. A complete listing of participants will be released at a later date.



This week’s Track Report program giveaways will still go on as usual with items to giveaway for our lucky number winners from our faithful sponsors, which include Goody’s Steakburger, the Cheezteak Company, Auto Zone, Parrott’s Automotive and Buckner Surplus. In addition there will also be two pair of tickets given away for the upcoming special State Fair races! There is plenty of extra space in this week’s Track Report for driver autographs from pictures taken by track photographer Matt Comer and from John Lee of High Fly’n Photos, so parents be sure to pickup a program not only to catch up on the latest news and results from the speedway, but for the young ones to obtain their favorite drivers’ autographs as well. There are many fan-related stories, pictures and captions in this week’s program as well as written and told by Heidi Scroggins. This week’s driver Q & A is with none other than one of our track’s young racers, ‘Jesse the Wheeler Dealer,’ driver of the #02 ‘Mighty Modified.’



If you’ve been waiting to come out to CMS your chances are winding down as there are only five regular race nights remaining, which include this Saturday August 13th, August 20th, August 27th, September 3rd and September 10th. CMS will host the NFTRA Flat-Track Motorcycles on Friday, August 26th for a special show; then, after the regular race season ends, the track will re-open one final time in 2005 for a special 2,000-dollar-to-win ‘Mighty Modified’ race on Saturday, October 15th. Each and every week all of the CMS cars and stars are on hand in the ‘Mighty Modified,’ Limited Late Model, 305 Sprint and Street Stock divisions for second-to-none exciting racing action. The CMS gates always open at 5 with hot laps at 7 and racing action getting underway at 7:30 PM. Admission prices are as follows: Adults-$10, Seniors/Military-$8, and Children-$6. CMS is located just off Highway 13 four miles north of Warrensburg off of Highway 50 or from the Higginsville exit off of I-70 on Highway 13 south for approximately 15 miles.
