(Warrensburg, MO) Week number eight in the 2009 Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) championship is now in the books with another week of close racing in all four racing divisions. Unseasonably comfortable temperatures greeted the track's loyal following of fans and drivers with a total of 83 cars checked in for competition. There were 31 'Mighty' Modifieds, 15 ULMA Late Models, 12 Street Stocks, and 25 B-Modifieds as the drivers gave it their all in a total of 17 races during the night's race program. Modified drivers were competing for the first time under the new modified payout structure, which now pays the drivers $160 just to start the feature event!

B-Modifieds started the night off with three heat races. Brian ‘Ziggy’ Ziegler picked up his first heat-race win of the year in the opening heat with Jeremy Lile of Higginsville taking his second heat victory of the year in heat number two. For the third and final heat it was Brad Smith, who came from tailback on the field to take the win for his fifth heat-race victory of the year. The b-mods next competed in a b-main event with six more cars transferring to the main event joining the top five finishers from each of the heat races. Picking up the win in the b-main was Bryan Montgomery. For the 15-lap feature race, Ziegler and Jeremy Lile led the field to the initial green flag in what turned out to be a caution-filled race. Caution flew early in the race with Mark Evinger and Bryan Montgomery involved as Lile led the field back to green. Another caution flew for the Marty McGuire machine with still one official lap scored. Smith quickly advanced to second on the restart with Michael King moving to third just before the yellow flag flew for Chris Brockway. Steve Gearhart spun in turn one to bring out another caution as Lile continued leading with King pressuring Smith by lap five of the event with Jacob Ebert now in fourth. Chris Whalen and A.J. Tice were involved in a spin in turn two to bring out another caution flag period on lap seven. Several cars were involved in yet another caution flag with still seven laps down as Evinger, McGuire, Gearhart, and Montgomery had to leave the race. Owen Evinger brought out a caution on lap nine as the field prepared for another restart; unfortunately Evinger was involved in an additional caution on the ensuing restart and was done for the night. Another late caution flew for Bronson Combs and Daulton Kirk as the field raced in a two-lap dash to the finish. In the end, Jeremy Lile grabbed his first win of the year over Michael King in second, Brad Smith third, Jacob Ebert fourth, Brian Ziegler in fifth with twentieth starting, 15-year-old Cody Brill in sixth.

Up next came the Street Stocks for their two heat races. Long-distance traveler, Tammy Korff of Fulton, MO picked up her first heat win of the year in the opening heat with Brian ‘Back in Black’ Johnson of Independence taking his sixth heat win of the year in the second heat race. Heat-race winners Korff and Johnson battled up front in the main event for the Street Stocks. Korff held strong but smoke began pouring from her car as Bennet and Johnson battled for second. A yellow flag flew on lap seven for Danny White as the field quickly went back to green-flag racing. Johnson grabbed the lead from Korff on the high side on lap eight as Bennett got around Korff on lap nine for second. Chad Eickleberry made a classic run to the front from his sixth starting position and made the pass for second on Bennett by lap twelve, leaving Bennett to battle with Herb Dannar for third. When the checkered flag fell, it was Brian Johnson who took his fourth feature race win of the year over Eickleberry, Bennett, Dannar, Korff, and Michael Mullins.

Another solid field of ULMA Late Models was on hand for two qualifying heat races. Odessa, MO driver Steve Clancy picked up his first heat victory of the year in the opening heat race with track point leader, Kevin Coyne of Kingsville, MO grabbing heat number two. Coyne and Clancy brought the field to green with Clancy leading lap one. Zach green brought out a lap two caution as the field went back to green with Jeff Schlup tagging the wall on the front stretch and dropping some debris on the track as the caution flag flew again. When the race resumed, Clancy again paced the field with Coyne and Binning close behind with three laps down. Clancy continued to lead over Binning and Coyne, who had a classic battle for the second spot as the laps wore on. All throughout the field drivers were driving like seasoned pros as the field settled into a nice race rhythm. Robbie Test, his father Bob, Shad Badder, and Jeff Schlup raced nose-to-tail for fourth through seventh all race long. As flagman Hershel Thompson's cross-checkered flags waved, Clancy brought home his first CMS feature race victory this year over a close-running Binning in second. Coyne crossed the line third with Robbie Test fourth, Bob Test fifth and Shad Badder sixth.

The 'Mighty' Modifieds were in full force racing in four heat races in order to sort out the lineup for the a-main event. In the opening heat, it was the ‘Clinton Missile’ Dennis Walrath going away with the victory. For heat two, track point’s leader Aaron Marrant drove to his first heat-race win of the year, while Luke Feeback of Harrisonville, MO took heat three. For the fourth and final heat, it was Dean Wille of Warrensburg, MO taking his fourth heat win of the year. Next for the modifieds, was their b-main event in which four more cars transferred on to the main event to join the top five from each of the heat races. Taking the b-main win was ‘High Flyin’ Joey Lile of Higginsville, MO. Walrath and Marrant paced the field up front with Walrath leading the opening lap; however, birthday boy Marrant made the pass for the lead on lap two. A quick caution for James McMillin on lap two flew on the field as Marrant resumed the lead one the race restarted. Several close battles for position throughout the field were going on behind Marrant with Wille, Jason Thompson, Feeback and Jim Moody inside the top five. A great battle for the lead was going on between Marrant and Wille as the caution flew for Steve Twenter, who wound up spinning directly in front of the leaders with twelve laps down. Marrant again paced the field as Wille stayed close with Moody pressuring for second, ultimately Moody made the move to second on lap fifteen. By lap eighteen, the top six resumed their torrid battle with Jason Thompson's car spinning while racing close with Wille. By race end, Moody was right on the bumper of Marrant as he tried to find a way around the leader. When the race concluded, it was Marrant crossing the line first ahead of Moody in second. Wille hung on for a third-place finish in front of Feeback in fourth. Ed Griggs had a great run from his thirteenth starting spot all the way to fifth place with sixteenth-starting Luke Conley coming home in sixth.
