Cerro Gordo Speedway finally catches break and set for racing this Friday night.
(Cerro Gordo, Illinois) Over the past two months, Cerro Gordo Speedway has encountered 13 inches of snow, over 9 inches of rain accumulated in this time frame, straight line winds, and unseasonably cool temperatures. But the past 6 days not a drop of precipitation and temperatures in the mid to high 80's, and with the forecast playing into the Speedways favour as well, with only a twenty percent chance of lightly, wide spread scattered showers, the Cerro Gordo Speedway is set to resume the 2013 season this Friday night. Teams, Drivers, and Fans are ready to resume as well, as Mother Nature has claimed four out of six nights so far at the Cerro Gordo Speedway.
This week the Quarter Midgets are welcome to test and tune as they will be set to start their Hoosier Tire/Afco Shocks Summer Series next week. All of the Speedways go kart divisions will be running this week as all classes are currently locked into some intense points battles. The Mothers Day Special that is sponsored by 1 Sharp Image and Flora Gems which was scheduled for last week, will be hosted this week. We have hair and nail packages, gift certificates for products and services, driver apparel, and the grand prize of almost a quarter karat diamond pendant necklace. All Mothers can enter the drawing free of charge by just dropping their name in a bucket and names will be drawn all night long. The Kids Club will make their first event this Friday night as well. The kids club is free and the kids have an opportunity to play games, sports, arts and crafts, and receive candy and prizes. The grandstands are free at the Cerro Gordo Speedway so bring the Moms and kids out for a special family fun night. Gates open at 4pm, hot laps around 6:30, and racing starts around 7.
