This Saturday night marks the end of an era for weekly racing at Central Missouri Speedway for Earl and Susan Walls on Championship Race Night with the ‘mighty’ Modifieds, ULMA Late Models, Street Stocks and B-Modifieds. Races for championship points are tight in several divisions with battles throughout the top ten. The race fans and drivers complete the 2008 race season with some mixed emotions this Saturday after an announcement made by Earl Walls last weekend. Earl and Susan Walls stated at the CMS-Kenny’s Tile track they will run six race night specials over the three summer holiday weekends at CMS during the 2009 season. These events will run even if the track is not sold or sold to a new owner. Recently there have been several inquiries about the highly successful track in Warrensburg, but no offers as of press time. The two-night specials in 2009 will include the Street Stocks, B-Modifieds and ULMA Late Models on the night one for a $1,500 to win feature event along with a night two Modified $3,000 or $5,000 to win special event. More details for these specials will be released after completion of the 2008 race season.

The point’s battles for the 2008 season at CMS are down to the final features before the track champions are crowned for the four featured race divisions. The modified class is led by Orrick driver, Aaron Marrant who holds onto to a 44-point lead ahead of Tim Karrick after the non-points special last weekend. Jon Binning from Warrensburg has a solid 94-point lead ahead of David Angell in the ULMA late model class. The 88-point advantage Nic Bennett of Oak Grove has over Tammy Korff in the street stock class is nearly a lock for the Street Stock championship next weekend. Scotty Martin also sits atop the b-modified class with a comfortable 104 point lead over Bobby Raybourn. This weekend the modifieds, ULMA late models, street stocks, and b-modifieds point races count towards the season championship.

The loyal CMS race fans will be treated to several extra prizes this weekend in appreciation of their support for a successful 2008 race season. Come out and send off Earl and Susan Walls with a night to remember after 15 years of Saturday night racing action at the high banks in Warrensburg. Pit gates open at 4:30, grandstands opens at 5; hot laps roll out at 7, and racing starts at 7:30.
