Chase Stockton Captures ASCT Sprint Car Win at Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY-October 15, 2010- The American Sprint Car Tour would bring Sprint Car racing back to Ponderosa Speedway for the first time since 1995 and Chase Stockton of Sullivan, IN would capture the money in the ASCT A-Main event. Other feature winners for the evening included Shon Flanary of Church Hill, TN in Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds, Mark Filiatreau of Cox’s Creek, KY in Street Stocks, and Michael Coleman of Junction City, KY in Front Wheel Drives.

Kurt Gross would take the lead at the drop of the green flag in the ASCT Sprint Car feature and would until tangling with John Memmer on lap 6, causing Gross to flip his mount three times before coming to a stop and Memmer’s machine would also be finished for the night. This turn of events would hand the lead over to Chase Stockton and he would show the way over the final 19 circuits to capture the win in his First Financial Bank/Superior Tank and Trailer Company/Bell Farms sponsored #32 machine. Joss Moffatt and series points leader Aric Gentry would finish second and third, while Blake Nimee and Brandon Mattox would complete the top five. In preliminary action, Kurt Gross would be the top qualifier among 12 entries at 13.262 seconds. Heat race wins would go to Kurt Gross and John Memmer, while Gross also won the dash.

The 25 lap Clayton Homes UMP Modified main event would produce a thrilling finish as Shon Flanary would make a turn two, last lap pass on Kelly Warren in traffic to take his first UMP Modified win of the season at Ponderosa Speedway aboard his FAST Trucking/Custom Suspension/Custom Contracting/Impact Racing/AFCO Racing Products sponsored #98 Harris Race Car. Warren would settle for runner-up honors, while Scotty Kincaid, Adam Jordan, and Bartley Grant would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Adam Colley, Josh Eads, Jeff Stith, Joe David Turner, and Keith Smith. In preliminary action, Flanary would be the top qualifier among 18 entries at 15.292 seconds, with heat wins going to Flanary and Scotty Kincaid.

Mark Filiatreau would take the lead in the early stages of the 15 lap Street Stock main event and would survive a late race caution to take his first win of the season in his Quick Care Oil and Lube Express/Hurricane Bay Car Wash sponsored #6 Ford. The remainder of the top five would be Daniel Howard, Johnny King, Bryan Derringer, and Jeremy Howard. The heat win would go to Daniel Howard.

Michael Coleman and William Collett were the only two entries in the Front Wheel Drive 10 lap feature event, but both battled door-to-door throughout the race, with Coleman taking the win aboard his unsponsored #7 mount. Collett would finish second. Coleman would also win the heat for the division.
