Chili Bowl rumors

Let's start some Chili Bowl possibilities. It is not too early for that.

How about another Late Model driver trying out a Midget for the first time at the Chili Bowl? How about the UMP SN champion in a Belleville Midget?

That's right, Shannon Babb will be in the Steve Knepper Midget. It will be numbered 18. Two kind of quite drivers teaming up for one of the biggest events of the winter.

Last year, Bart Hartman drove Steve's car at the Chili Bowl.

Nick Knepper will be driving his Midget at the Chili Bowl.

I wondered how long it would take for this to get out...

Hopefully we'll get some pictures of his midget for the Chili-Bowl soon..

BTW: Tri-City Speedway is one of the sponsors on his Midget..

You know me. If I find out about something that the racing community needs to know about, I will get it to them.

Gonna have a tough way to go with the new Chilibowl format as he will have to race through the hooligans on tuesday just to get a chance to run one of the regular qualifier nights. As Rookies, first timers and anybody who finished worse than an E last year has to race Tuesday to get a shot @ a regular night...
Sure wish I had the bumper & nerf concession. :) :D
As D.W. Say's "Lets go racin boys"{

I believe Shannon Babb Won't have to run on Tuesday . He meets the attached guideline's to be excempt .. He will be yet another great addition to the event !

Several guidelines have been established to determine who will be required to compete in the Pre-Qualifier. Those exempt from the Pre-Qualifier will include drivers that qualified for an "F" Feature or better in the 2006 Chili Bowl Nationals, drivers with five or more years of Chili Bowl racing experience and drivers that rank among the top ten with a major, recognized sanctioning body or with equivalent experience.

and drivers that rank among the top ten with a major, recognized sanctioning body or with equivalent experience.

Yup you are correct sir, Wasn't thinkin right as I forgot "taxi cab":D drivers count also.. :) :D

I don't think that should count. I am not by any means doubting his talent in a race car but I think the whole pre qualifier is missing the boat if guys like him don't have to run on tuesday. And yes i do believe that McCreadie should of had to run on tuesday if they would have done this back then. Just an opinion.....

mcreadie finished 7th in the a-main the year before.........well i think it was 7th, anyways it was a top ten in his first yeat at the chili bowl.

Yes the rumors are first of all true. My name is Don Martin and I am the one each and every year that helps raise sponsorship dollars for certain late model drivers to be at the Chili Bowl each year. Not all of them but ones such as Scott Bloomquist, Tim McCreadie, Rick Eckert, Josh Richards, Bart Hartman, Jeep Van Wormer, and yes this year Shannon Babb.

First of all Bart Hartman and Rick Eckert will not be at this years Chili Bowl. Bart is making some changes on his race car which will be taking too much of his time this offseason. Rick on the other hand is making wholesale changes to his team.

Tim McCreadie will be back at the helm of the Steve Smith Racing team out of Australia. The defending champion will at least have two other members this year, one of the them is a nextel cup driver while the other is very solid midget driver in the midwest. Tim will again be racing his preliminary night on Wednesday of this years Chili Bowl.

Jeep Van Wormer is close to locking up his deal this year. Should know something next week to wrapping things up.

Josh Richards will be driving for Tony Stewart Motorsports with General Motors sponsorship. We have photos but cannot be released at this time. Josh missed making the big show last year by one spot.

Shannon Babb, how exciting is this going to be. I can tell you he is very pumped up. He will be driving for the Knepper Family with sponsorship from Scott Performance Wire, Tri-City Speedway, Mark Richards, Hoosier by Smash, and one sponsor yet to be named. We are hoping to have the car lettered up and press releases starting in the next couple of weeks. Shannon will be competing on Thursday night at this time during the Chili Bowl Nationals. Shannon has a couple of good buddies in Josh and Timmy, and they have promised to help Shannon every way possible. Nick Knepper will also be running this year as well. The car will carry the #18 with the primary colors yellow and red while Nick will carry his #25.

thanks for everyones interest.
