As most of you know we had the Leaps of Love Night at the Speedway this past Saturday, it was a great event for a very good cause. During intermission we arranged for the kids from Leaps of Love to ride around the Speedway in a bus. As they were loading the kids they realized it wasn't wheel chair equipped and one of the boys is in a wheel chair. I told them it no problem he could ride with me in the Steve Schmitt Pace Truck. When I walked over to the passenger side of the truck I was greeted by a young man with a grin from ear to ear.

At first I just thought you know, he was happy to ride in the pace truck, but then I realized who it was; it was Christopher, a young man whom I met several years ago when I was working at the Petty Driving Experience. My mother works as a volunteer at Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis and met Christopher and his family, she found out he is a big NASCAR and race fan, so we arranged it so I could take him for a ride in one of the Driving Experience race cars around the track at Gateway International, the pictures are posted on my face book page.

I was happy to see him again as he has had a very uphill battle.

(While we were riding around the speedway he told me he was a big Tony Stewart fan and I told him I wouldn’t hold that against him) I am posting this because after he has more chemo here in St. Louis he must then travel from his home in Missouri to Raleigh- Durham, North Carolina at Duke University for an operation that hopefully will cure him .

I’m asking you to give them a hand as he must travel by car and it is going to cost them a lot of money to relocate his family so they can be near him.

This goes out to all our racers and friends here on Facebook and the Highland Speedway and to all my friends back in North Carolina ,if you would send them something whether it be cash, gas cards, or Wal-Mart cards anything to help them with the expense of travel and relocating, I would appreciate it very much. Please, I’m not asking for a lot for them, $1.00, $5.00 whatever you can afford just put in an envelope and send it with NO return address, it will let Christopher and his family know that there are people out there who care.

The address is
Christy Armstrong Lucas
PO Box 1471

He also has a Facebook page,

His mom also has a car that could use some mechanical help in making the journey out east, so if someone could take the time to look at please contact me and I will help arrange that.
Thanks Again from Gina and myself, Scott Kuhn
