Paragon Speedway in Paragon, Indiana will host the First Annual Chuck Amati Classic on June 19th, 2010. To many, this is just a small honor to remember the man that wowed fans for more than 3 decades of racing. The event will feature some of the fastest and exciting non-winged sprint car drivers the nation has to offer.

The First Annual Chuck Amati Classic will feature a $3,000 to win purse, and be sanctionied by the MSCS. The MSCS features exciting non-wing sprint car racing primarily in the Indiana area and features veteran drivers such as Blake Fitzpatrick, John Stanbrough, and Chase Stockon.Currently the point leader for the series is rookie contender Jonathan Hendrick. The Paragon familiars won't just let the sanctioning body come in and claim the top check, regulars Josh Cunningham, Bub Cummings, and Scott Townsend should be on hand to defend their turf.

"I wanted to do this race in memory of Chuck first of all because he was my friend," stated Paragon Speedway promoter Keith Ford. "Chuck was a very good friend of mine and was a good clean racer. I had the opportunity to race with him many times over the years. He was always a class-act."

“The One-Armed Bandit” Chuck Amati’s accomplishments reads like a biography that today’s racers could only dream of. While some early records are sketchy, many believe that Amati, a 2004 national Sprint Car Hall of Fame Inductee, took home top honors while racing somewhere between 600 and 1,000 times over his career. Amati’s racing philosophy was simple when he raced; just win.

Paragon was always a favorite place for Amati to race over the years. It was at Paragon that Chuck would place his highest finish with the World of Outlaws. Amati would finish second to Steve Kinser at the notable facility in 1978, which was also the sanctioning bodies inaugural season.

Paragon Speedway is a throw-back to yesteryear facility with many modern upgrades. The venue features plenty of seating, although traditionally, many enjoy picnicking along the hill side. The facility also hosts one of the largest non-winged sprint car counts in the country on a weekly basis due in part to tradition and their multiple features each night in the class.

You can visit Paragon Speedway on the internet at: www.paragonspeedway.com. Additionally, Chuck’s grandson and racer Shane Wade has created a Facebook page in Chuck’s honor complete with photos, and many fans young and old sharing fond memories. Just logon to www.facebook.com and search, Chuck Amati.
