A night of surprises and $1.00 Hot Dogs at Clarksville Speedway. With the Buds points battle close in the UMP Late Models coming into tonight, one might think that it would be another walk away by the reigning champion Tony Albright, but that was not to be true when he broke during qualifying. Albright set fast time in the first lap of his qualifying run but never made the second. So that put Mike Chandler (51) who set second quick, on the front row for the Quick Six Dash. So with Albright out of the picture tonight it was anyone’s game. During line u! p in staging Frost was late so he ended up having to start in the back row, leaving Chandler and Richard Frost on the front row for the start. Mike Chandler shows the crowd that he is also a force to be contended with here at Clarksville Speedway, taking the win of the Dash. Ralph Wiles (63) took the heat race over a stellar field of late models. In feature action, Chandler carried over the speed from the dash right into the feature with the first win of the season. Gary Frost (F14) was challenging for the lead when in turn 4 got a little sideways and stalled the car leaving him to finish in the fourth spot but taking over the points lead by 11 points. Wiles finished third, William McClain (57) finished third and Richard Frost (15) finished fifth rounding ou! t the top five.

Charles Zimmerman show the fans how to take the UMP Open Wheel around the quarter mile the fastest, setting a time of 13.906 on his second lap. In the quick six dashes it was Mike Sweeney (25S) showing the way after starting second. In heat race action Tim Dierlam (8C) led the entire race until he spins on last lap and Corey Schmidt (19) passed without delay to take the checkered flag. In feature action it was Charles Zimmerman (93) finish on top after Michael Lee spins with two to go. Schmidt finishes second, David Flowers (99) stop in third, Barry Elliot (88) finish fourth and Gerald Hodges (1! 0) round out the top five.

Pro Street action began with one lap qualifying, with the RC1 of Brian Caudle setting quick time. Caudle ended up winning the quick six dash. Lucas Lee (55) took home a victory in the heat race, starting in the fourth spot. Feature action saw the return of Tyrone Dossett (44) who finished a strong second, but the win went to Caudle. Matt Potter (64) took home third, while Larry Hamm (93) settled for fourth and Don Young (41) sporting the new look took home fifth.

Dale Phillips (87) took the first spot in Street Stock heat race one, the winner of heat two was Roy Brewington (117), and the winner of the third heat was the 8 of Matt Musser. After breaking Phillips would be nowhere around come finish time which is a surprise around here, with Dorris McCord (45) taking the familiar red rocket to victory lane. Roy Brewington finished in second, Ronnie Hedgepath in his H55 in the third spot, Jennifer Larsen (J25) fell in at the fourth spot and 1H of Randi Hesse finished the top five.

Ronnie Richardson and Dale McCord take home the Mini Stock heat race victories, making for an up front battle come feature time. But it was McCord showing the way in his 31. Floyd Clinard, Jr in the 05 bring up second, Don Donegan (54) come home in third. Richardson would end up coming home in fourth and the 10 of Michael Rittenberry rounded out the top five.

Don’t forget about the Demo Derby on Aug 16th. Every Sunday go-kart races here on the big track.
