(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) The Conley Motorsports, Inc. teams had a very successful Labor Day holiday weekend, as they were able to amass two victories and four top ten finishes. R.J. Conley brought home the biggest victory of the weekend, as he claimed the $10,000 top prize in the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) event on Sunday evening at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. R.J. took the lead on lap nineteen of the 75-lap feature event and held off all challenges throughout the rest of the event to claim his biggest victory of the 2005 racing season. He also finished a solid sixth in Saturday night’s $2,000 to win preliminary feature event after losing his brakes early on in the event.

Delmas Conley, the patriarch of the racing Conley’s, also reached victory lane for the Wheelersburg, Ohio based family. He rolled off from the outside of the front row for Saturday night’s $2,000 to win show at PRP and he led all twenty-five laps of the feature. The win was the first of the season for the veteran Dirt Late Model driver. However, his success was short-lived after the driver of the Conley Trucking / Cornett Building Supply / Mortgage One #71 Rocket Monte Carlo failed to make the $10,000 to win MACS show at PRP on Sunday. Delmas struggled in qualifying and couldn’t pass enough cars in the heat race or the B-Main to make the starting field for the Labor Day weekend event.

Rod Conley hit the road and competed in three MACS events over the busy weekend. After winning his heat race on Friday night at the Raceway 7 in Conneaut, Ohio, Rod wound up finishing fourteenth in the $5,000 to win feature event. “Hot Rod’s” only top ten finish of the weekend came at the Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, where Rod finished eighth in the final rundown. His busy weekend concluded with his dad and brother at PRP on Sunday in the $10,000 weekend finale. After starting eighteenth on the grid, Rod improved that starting position by seven spots en route to an eleventh place finish at the nearby oval.

“It was a pretty good weekend for all of us,” said R.J. on Tuesday afternoon. “Dad (Delmas) got his first win on Saturday at Portsmouth and we were able to win the $10,000 show on Sunday. Our car was really good all weekend, but we lost brakes on around lap nine of the feature on Saturday. Then on Sunday, I was able to start eleventh in the feature and grab the lead on lap nineteen. We have been up and down all year long and it really feels good to win one of the big races around here. The car that we won with on Sunday is the car we are bringing to Eldora for the World 100, so hopefully it will be good there as well. Rod had a solid weekend with the MACS Series also, and he should improve his point position with those finishes.”

The Conley Motorsports, Inc. teams will tackle the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio this weekend. The grand-daddy of all Dirt Late Model races takes place this Friday and Saturday at the 1/2-mile, high-banked dirt oval in west-central Ohio and Delmas, R.J., and Rod will all be on hand to vie for the annual ‘World 100’ crown. Qualifying for the event will take place on Friday night, with heat races, the B-Main event, and the 100-lap, $38,000 to win ‘World 100’ set for Saturday evening.
