Hearing possibility of allowing the crate 602 in the street stock class? Is there any truth to this?

We are exploring this possibility, going to do some testing with this combination in the near future.

Thanks, kevin

Didn't like the idea of the crate motor being run till I went to I-55 and seen Jeff L in the 29 hand them guys there azzes one night with one lol. I believe it would be a great deal for the class and would also be a money saver for the drivers!!!

$4000 grand is not to high imo...should be able to run this thing just as hard as a built motor with more durability one would thinks. I don't think the weight would matter as much as you think Jmo

Plus your looking at $3000 to put together a built motor plus the cost rotating assemble and that's $1000 plus right?

It will be close on power...not gonna save on cost. I don't see the value and it basically forces the track to buy one to swap for teching. Plus you have to change valve springs every 8 nights. Just another pain.

a 602 has little cc heads with small valves and dish pistons just a low aluminum intake , you can biuld one cheeper . but bout the same power a decent 355 would do better but ya gotta remember to keep cost down, You can build a 355 for 6000 if ya want but people forget about money if ya wanna win. I think its a great idea but if ya really teched this class it would be bad cause you gonna have more in a crate engine than a good ole home built 355....but you really need rules in place to cut down on cost .....also better control of cars will keep car count up ,CCS wondered why streetstock class had 25 or more than dropped off to 13 toward end??? did you see the way some of them drove....other into turn 3 wall ...or front stretch wall... or used each other as walls to make corners... HELLO TOWER??? not my fight yet but never know what next year brings...LOL

The crate isnt a bad idea, but I still like the idea of keeping the rules simple," steel block, steel heads and choke it with a rochester with holley jets", cars must weight 3000 lbs make the sportsman rules the same and presto you have a huge car counts, I just think one could buy up some cheap used parts and throw a decent motor together for under what the crate engines cost and plus changing the valve springs ever 8 nites isnt cheap i would think, You only gonna get so much HP to the rear tires anyway exspecially if you make em run hard tires.

The thing that's ****s is now were talking about changing a class that is great just the way it is...once you start, it don't stop!!! Allow this then it well maybe we can do this too and oh I don't see why we can't do this cause you allow that and on and on..

Here we go again..! That leaves us, die hard Ford guys out AGAIN. Unless you allow us to have a crate engine, FORD crate that is..! If not, isn't that discrimination?..!

3 Things...

that are the most costly,IMO,are Tires,Shocks and Engines. This area needs it's own local group of racers,to unify the rules that control the SS and Sportsman and leave UMP out of it....This also covers the B-Mods, before we lose control of costs there,also...:)

Guys not talking about making this mandatory, just looking at options for the future.

Thanks, Kevin

Couldnt agree more with what you said, I think some of these guys are not thinking outside the box or have money to afford mullins or hovis engines plus they like to race with a limited car count to insure there win each race nite and them guys are the ones that i could care less about, there is ways to keep bad fast cars in this class with out paying high buck for this or that........change it "all" now and keep it that way, and I agree it needs to be left into the hands of the racers but after reading a couple of these post even that is very scary....Happy Holloween

This class is great and not expensive compared to all of the others out there. We don't need to make changes just for the sake of making changes.
