crate motor in the street stocks?

The guys that keep blowing up this years are doing so by the gear choice they choose. If you set where I set you can tell the ones who are turning them to hard!!! Jmo

The crate isn't going to do anything for the class. In the end it cost the same and will be close on power. Add it for all I care but if your looking for ways to cut costs you need to keep looking.

Tommy I think your auto correct posted 6500 when you ment 8500 lol...could be a bad set of heads if its doing it over and not roasting them imo

How would they save money...Its alot cheaper to get a stock upper!! Would have to be controled and teched....or we could run these with our new nova lower control arms...they are only $569 bucks for a set... 91034280_R.jpgAdding "new" things is not always a solution.

Buy em all day for $50 stock that is but time you change ball joints and bushing your at around $80 to 100?!! And that's ordering them from speedway,a Hell of a lot easier then going out to a junk yard and fight to get em off lol

$25 bucks $50 max with new bushings and ball joints anywhere without fighting to get them off. Hell speedway sells them for 40 for the arm, $11 bucks for ball joint, $7 for the bushings...so a brand new set up is $58 bucks....Now the stock gm metric tublar that speedway sells is same price, but how would they work if you are not running gm metric stuff on a gm metric car...hhmmmmmm

Engine thought...

Off-the-shelf Steel Intakes,OEM log-type Exhaust Manifolds( NO MACHINE WORK on either Manifold just Port Matching). Also, maybe 390 Holleys?...

The stock arms will bend easy , my Arkansas cars are on these tube ones that are direct replacement it's ten times easier cheaper and stronger and used in imca because they are direct replacement , heck of a lot cheaper than going to junk yard every week like someone I know who's left front was bent six weeks in a row!

"someone I know who's left front was bent six weeks in a row!" -gotta quit running into stuff or change your playground lol

If I bend a left front that many times I'm just gonna go home.

Kevin, Why would you even think about changing a class that is ALWAYS full at tri-city? Its STUPID!! They are STREET STOCK not SPORTSMAN!! If you do change it then you need to call them U.M.P SS cause with crate motors they are FAR from Purestock!! JMO

I don't run ss but I have a couple of friends that race ss at Macon and sarge bought 1 602 and they drew from like the top ten in points from last year and they had to run it this year not exactly sure who it was but heard it was way under powered.

Can't get much more stock than a "crate" motor...

Street Stock drivers nobody said we were changing the rule. It was something that was put out there as a possibility and we were asked about doing a test with it. We've always voted as a group and we listen to everyone. Quit blowing this out of porportion.

Kevin

I gree what i wasnt sure about is what Ceb calls " full " and does he understand what Kevin needs to make every friday night to be called a success ?

the crate motor has vortec heads, aluminium intake, and a 4 barrel, compared to stock heads, stock steel intake, and a rochester 2 barrel that we have to run..... I would say our motors now are more stock than the 602 crate. I am not against racing against the 602 but guys that would run it would only be able to run it at tri-city. I plan on running tri-city all season next year, and the 602 will not change that, I just wont run one.
