CARTERSVILLE, GA – Invitations will be sent out to 120 drivers that have earned the right to participate in the 40-lap $2,000-to-win 2nd Annual Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Fall Nationals Invitational Race at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS on November 23-24.

In addition to the Invitational Race on Friday November 23, the top six drivers from each of the three StormPay .com Weekly Racing Series Regions, and the 17 track champions will also be eligible to participate in special events on Saturday afternoon, November 24.

“A total of 632 drivers participated in StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series events in 2007, and these 120 drivers have earned the right to participate in the Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Fall Nationals Invitational Race based on their performance at their respective tracks,” StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Coordinator Roby Helm said. “This race will be weekly racers taking on weekly racers, as no National Touring regulars will be in this race, and there will be no entry fee for this event.”

Drivers invited to the 2nd Annual Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Fall Nationals Invitational Race can also participate in the 40-lap $3,000-to-win StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event at Columbus Speedway on Saturday night, November 24.

The 120 invitees for the 2nd Annual Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Fall Nationals Invitational Race are the top six drivers from the West, East and South Regions of the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series, plus the top six drivers from each of the 17 StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series-sanctioned tracks, excluding the top six Regional drivers.

The format for the 2nd Annual Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Fall Nationals Invitational Race will be qualifying, heat races, B-mains (if needed), and the 40-lap $2,000-to-win main event.

During the weekend at Columbus Speedway, there will also be a 20-lap Race of Regions that will put the top six drivers from each of the three Regions against each other, plus a 20-lap Race of Champions for the 17 StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Track Champions.

In each of these events, drivers will draw for their starting spots in one of two eight-lap heat races that will be run at Columbus Speedway on Friday afternoon, November 23. The Race of Regions, and the Race of Champions will be held on Saturday afternoon, November 24 prior to the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event.

The six drivers eligible for the Fall Nationals Invitational Race, the Race of Regions, and the Race of Champions are Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS, Steve Godsey of Bedford, IN, Jamie Pickard of Columbus, MS, Logan Yates of Delta, AL, Chad Wallace of LaGrange, GA, and Frank Wilson of Milton, FL.

Keeton is a two-time StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion, and the Track Champion at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. Godsey finished third in the West Region points, and was the Indiana StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Champion. Pickard finished sixth in the West Region, and was the Track Champion at Columbus Speedway.

Yates is the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series East Region Champion, and the Track Champion at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Wallace finished third in the East Region and was the Track Champion at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL. Wilson is the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series South Region Champion, and won Track Championships at Blackman Motor Speedway in Blackman, FL and Southern Raceway in Milton, FL.

Other StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Track Champions that will be eligible to compete in the National Championship Invitational Race, and the Race of Champions are West Region Track Champions Tony Shelton of Steens, MS from Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS from Southern Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS, and Mark Tice of Hollandale, MS from Monticello Speedway in Monticello, AR.

East Region Track Champions are Keith Freeman of Commerce, GA from Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, GA, and Darel Ownbey of Calhoun, GA from North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, GA.

South Region Track Champions are Michael Santangelo of St. Rose, LA from A1 Raceway in Slidell, LA, Richard Guidry of Port Allen, LA from Baton Rouge Raceway in Baton Rouge, LA, Bert Tompkins of Fitzpatrick, AL from Butler County Motorsports Park in Greenville, AL, Ryan Little of Satsuma, AL from Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL, and Jimmy Stuart of LaPlace, LA from Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS.

The race car of each invitee in the 2nd Annual Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Fall Nationals will be adorned with a special color-coded decal on the back spoiler that will distinguish the driver’s Region and the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series-sanctioned track they represent.

Columbus Speedway will host an open practice session on Thursday night, November 22, and there will be also be a practice session for drivers not invited to the Weekly Racing Series Fall Nationals Invitational Race on Friday, November 23 in preparation for the 40-lap $3,000-to-win StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event on November 24.
