Crates at I-55

I'd love to see a Crate LM show maybe once a month at Pevely. The Tri City cars would show up for sure, and they draw 30 cars a night. Comments please.

Crates can already run every Saturday at pevely if they so choose when it gets slick motors don't matter as much if Aaron heck brought his car he could be right in the hunt or some of the other good cars there isn't a full field any more most nights an with mmp opening that could drop the car count even more

It will never happen. Ray is biggest anti crate guy there is!! Quoted as saying its ruining racing.. Not hammer down race tracks that take 30,000$ engines to race on them.. Nope it's a economical class affordable to most that is ruining it... Lol

Some dryslick racing can be decent. But most of the time when a track is dryslick it is one lane suck a** racing with dust so thick you can't see anything.. Which in turn results in empty seats!

Here's an idea if Highland and I-55 don't not want to run crate cars as their own class: Give an incentive to crate cars that do come and run! As an example: Pay the highest finishing crate car a bonus. Do something to attract more cars. Last I checked, the more cars in the gate equals more pit passes and more fans in the stands.

Have had opens and we have crates now. When track is slick they are pretty equalbut the nighsts when tacky you brought a knife to agunfight

Running Crates with Super late models is a joke. My original post was maybe once a month for crates. Super's are the Premiere class in the area and the most expensive. The Lucas Oil and World of Outlaw series are great when they come into our tracks. Pevely last year for the "Nationals" had 34 cars for 10,000 to win. It was a good show but only 34 cars. I don't think anybody believes Crates can replace Supers. It would just be a change. The Nesmith series is doing well in the southeast with the crate motor, but thats what it is, a crate series. I think all race fans want to see car counts go up no matter what class of car you might want to see Supers, Crates, Sportsman, modifieds or 4cyl's. It was just a thought, and thanks for the opinion's. Keep them coming !

With all due respect to Ray and Kenny. Your car count has been falling off the last few years. Maybe its the economy, maybe its your payout, I don't know . If you don't keep up with the changes in racing and realize why one of the best tracks has been struggling the last 3 years, your in trouble. Bringing a different class to your track would only help your weekly program and will give guys a chance to run your track that normally wouldn't and they will come back. How could you not consider bring in a class that could carry 20 plus cars every week? Gonna have to change something guys.... Cause your weekly shows last year of 14-16 LM, !8-22 MODS, 18-20 Sportsman Isn't gonna keep fans coming back...

Wish we had car counts that "bad" for weekly shows down here. On a typical Saturday night last year at Camden and Atwood each would have 2-12 Crates, 4-10 Modifieds, 5-12 Emods, etc. This year they are alternating Saturdays so it will be better hopefully. Be thankful for what you have in I55, Tri City, Belleville, and Highland. They all have way better weekly shows than most places in the country.

we ran a couple open late model shows and placed fair 6th and a 10th tried the 100 at belleville and broke in heat and ran 5th in consi but had a blast. No chance to win but still supporting the local establishments.
