What UMP DIRTcar Modified driver will trump Landers in ’09? Discover in 22 days!

BARBERVILLE, Fla. — Jan. 12, 2009 — Every UMP DIRTcar Modified driver will tell you it’s nice to win a race, especially one as significant to the dirt track world as the season-opening Alltel DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH at Volusia Speedway Park. Young Arkansas driver Jared Landers is one of the few who can tell you how nice it is to do accomplish that feat twice in a field of more than 80 cars.

During the 37th Edition of the DIRTcar Nationals, Landers claimed victory on the third night, besting Dave Hess Jr. after two solid runs resulted in ninth- and second-place finishes. Landers’ first victory was definitely a dominant run as he took the checkered flag with a half-straightaway lead on his closest competitor.

The next night Landers once again showed no mercy on the UMP DIRTcar Modified field as he started sixth in the A-Main and quickly powered by leader John Schill on only the third lap. Landers never looked back to win for his second consecutive Alltel DIRTcar Nationals By UNOH victory.

Landers’ wins gave him an entry into the Alltel All-Star contest, and two opportunities to plead his case for votes in Victory Lane. Landers also had some secret firepower when sponsor Mark Martin stumped for fans to vote for Landers on a nationally televised program on SPEED. Landers’ ended up finishing third in the online contest at AlltelAllStar.com but proved he was a driver to beat during the Alltel DIRTcar Nationals By UNOH.
