Following a sub par qualifying effort on Friday night, Dale turned up the wick in his heat race to get the win from his fourth starting spot.
When the dirt-slinging competition continued on Saturday evening, Dale rolled off from the pole position in the 60-lap 'Clash Bash.' The driver known as the "MacDaddy" led each and every circuit of the A-Main to earn his first career Carolina Clash Late Model Series triumph and the $10,000 winner's share over Jonathan Davenport, Randle Chupp, Ricky Weeks, and Austin Dillon. "It was a great weekend for us at 311," commented McDowell recently. "Having to race on American Racer tires threw us a little curveball, but the car was fantastic all weekend. We don't get to run very many Carolina Clash races, but that is a pretty tough series. Those drivers know the racetracks very well and have a lot more experience with those tires. Hopefully the win in the Clash Bash will give us a boost of confidence heading into Lowe's next week!"
The #17m team is slated to take the upcoming October 30-31 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition prior to the huge World of Outlaws Late Model Series finale weekend at the Dirt Track at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. The rain-postponed 'Topless Showdown' will take place at the Charlotte area venue on Wednesday, November 4, while the 3rd Annual 'World of Outlaws World Finals' will be held at Lowe's from November 5-7.
