Danica Patrick going NASCAR

The only success Danica has had is in the novelty department. Name one other driver that averages a 10th place finish for 5 years that isn't looking at losing their ride, instead of being courted by another series.

Danica=$ and attention. Not wins/championships.

Good partnership though with JR. He's turned into the exact same thing.

And keep in mind that her 10th place finishes are with starting fields of roughly 20-24 cars (I think that's roughly the number of cars that have run the past few years) with the exception of Indianapolis. You're almost gifted a top 15 through attrition.

One thing she has going is that the eqipment she will have will be the best.unlike all the other open wheel drivers havent had that except for tony when he came over.i think she will do ok she wont set the world on fire.Like her new boss i think she is way over rated.she will win a arca race next yr tho.
 
Cant see her beating Lofton , Klingermann, and Kimmel in her first year..I hope she does well though.It stinks that the money a driver brings to the table( GO DADDY) is more important than the talent, but that is the new era.Hope she does well .
 
I’m not a Danica basher at all but the level of visibility she has attained has very little to do with her ability to wheel a racecar and everything to do with the fact she’s a “hot chick” competing in a male dominated sport. Her detractors will often toss in their opinion “she s*ucks” but I don’t think that’s a really fair statement to her. She has been FAR from a dominant force in CART but has proven the ability to compete in one of the top-tiers of motorsports regardless of gender.

So Danica moves to NASCAR… Let’s face it, NASCAR has become more “motorsports entertainment” than anything like the “real racing” it once was. They now have their “hot chick,” just like the other major North American “motorsports entertainment” organization does. Monster Jam (USHRA) has Medusa (Debra Miceli.) At least with her, she can and will win events and has a world title under her belt.

This move is good for everyone in NASCAR that is on the business side of things and good for those fans that enjoy watching the “motorsports entertainment” and I’m sure this will be great for Danica as well. There will be more people paying attention than ever before and they’ll be spending their cash in that direction as well. Supporting the big corporate sponsors and gobbling up NASCAR and Danica merchandise, all the while proclaiming to be “huge NASCAR fans.” :rolleyes:

Those of us that remember when NASCAR drivers drove REAL “stock cars” will wonder how many of these new “huge NASCAR fans” will even know that Darrell Waltrip wasn’t always an announcer … Or if they even know who Cale Yarborough or Donnie Allison are and what part of NASCAR history they hold (aside from great careers as drivers) … Or would they even know what a Kulwicki is. :confused::eek: LOL

At least I’ll now know, if I happen to flip on a Nationwide race next year, there’s a chance I can be treated to some Danica eye-candy. ;) yum!!!
