LaSalle, IL - Ryan and Eric Dauber each out-powered their divisional competition at LaSalle Speedway Saturday evening en route to their dominating victories. The Tonica brothers started sixth and seventh respectively in their features and charged their way on the highside early to claim uncontested wins.

Early in the night, Midwestern Sportsman driver Scott Cimei started off his evening in grand fashion as he "popped the question" with a flying banner cascading through the sky behind an airplane. When the plane was spotted, Cimei was next to his girlfriend in the grandstands who appeared surprised.

The banner read "Amber will you marry me Scott". After accepting his offer Cimei went on to have a great night of racing winning his preliminary event and capturing second in his feature.

Flyin’ Ryan hit the highbanks for the Xtreme Late Model division on the third row outside but it was only a matter of time before he reeled in the competition using the highest line on the track.

For the first eight laps, West Chicago’s Jay Fiene was traveling through the corners fast with Bret Seivert and Bensenville’s Frank Reaber following. On Lap 10, Seivert made his move up high taking over the point while Ryan was busy stealing third away from Reaber. Five laps later, the infield tires weren’t forgiving as Fiene’s fierce run was slowed when trying to avoid lapped traffic forced him to slam into them.

During Lap 17, Ryan was now in a solid charge on the bottom of the track giving Seivert a run for his money. For another lap the two were close and on the back stretch Ryan would pull his nose out front. Two laps later, Ryan took over control of his fourteen remaining challengers for the final time.

With twenty two laps on the scoreboard, Seivert was back up to Ryan and battling side by side but lapped traffic was not in his favor. Ryan then began to distance himself from Seivert, Reaber, Dixon’s Tim Hamburg, Fiene and Dan Source.

When the final lap was completed, Ryan was there to claim the win over Seivert, Reaber, Hamburg, Fiene, Source, Bloomington’s Jason Feger, Jim Partipilo of Elmhurst, Tom Newquist, Bill Rezutek, Wauconda’s Skip Martin, Rich Bell, Granville’s Darin Furar, and Jason Jaggers of Wyanet.

Fiene was hot all night as he took home the fast qualifiers dash win over Reaber, Seivert and Source. Martin won the first heat race in front of LaSalle’s Mike Glynn, Partipilo and Rezutek. Hamburg won the fast heat with Jaggers, Fiene and Source finishing behind him. Seivert held the fastest lap with a time of 13.225.

Nineteen drivers competed for the Midwestern Late Model feature race with John Piccatto and Mark Jilbert heading up the front row. Once under green, Piccatto looked strong pulling into a fast lead with Brian Ray, Jilbert, Cody Sommer and Eric Dauber following.

By Lap 9, Eric had positioned himself behind Piccatto and took over the pilot position on the next lap.

Once the field stayed under green for any length of time, Eric generated too much real estate for anyone to catch him.

At the checkers, Streator’s Shane Hill finished second to Eric as Sommer, ninth place starter Ralph Markham, Dan Thryselius, Mick Miller, Piccatto, Peru’s Joe Adam, Jason Bogle, and Mike Locke completed the top ten finishers.

Eric posted quick time with a lap of 13.805. Forsythe and Markham pulled off their heat wins.

By Lap 2 of the Midwestern Sportsman main event it was quite clear that the caution flag was going to fly as much if not more then the green. Oglesby’s Keith Piano started on the pole with newly engaged Cimei as his outside partner.

On the first lap Sharon Schlappi made contact with Cimei sending him to the muddy infield. Without another full lap in she hit the first place runner Piano sending him to the pits for repair and her to the rear of the field.

With the leaders out or in the back, Brian Claudnic took ownership of the front for the single file restart. He held on with Bob Morgan, BJ Mires, Aaron Schmidt and Duane McCarville following.

Claudnic lost control during the ninth lap and took several cars with him that had no place to go. At the finish Schmidt won with Cimei second after charging from the rear. Schlappi ended her night in third with BJ Grabow fourth over Fleety Beltz, Soctt Hauge, Jim Phelps in a borrowed car, Bob Morgan, Piano and McCarville.

Piano and Cimei each won the heat races for the class.

John Peterson led the Street Stock feature from the pole winning over Tom Legner, Scott Schmitt, Dan Filkowski, Chuck Leason, Shawn Mikolatis, Robert Schlappi, Nick Sell, Charles Herhold and Jeff Busch.
