Day 2 of the UMP Dirtcar Roundup results at I-55 Raceway...

Jimmy, it was still advertised as a 5:00pm start on Thursday and Friday, which undoubtedly kept fans away.

And, obviously, all the fees kept racers away. I have to agree with "TRACTIONCONTROL", there are far less Modifieds AND Sportsmen than any regular Saturday night at I-55.

Now, on Saturday, when the majority of folks can make it to the track a little earlier, they push the start time back to 7:00pm .... huh?

Thinking I may stay home for the third night in a row ........ after all, for 5 grand, the only Late Models worth watching that wouldn't be there on any given Saturday night are Feger, Shirley, and Vaught.

Extremely disappointing ..... and I am normally a big supporter of I-55.

Hopefully, I-55 is taking notes on what works and what has not worked. Next year have a starting time of at least 6pm at the earliest on Thurs. and Friday. Give the workin man a chance to get there. If it is cold, we can always put on another layer of clothing. But when you advertise a 5pm start, the thought of going is squashed right out of the gate...

Tonight's show will go fairly quickly. There are heats and B's for the Modifieds & Late Models that are not locked in.

Then A-Mains for all 6 divisions.

If you stayed home the past two nights, you have missed some pretty good racing. I've heard several drivers say the track has been as good as they have seen it...

I-55 didn't want the start times so early during the week, but UMP wanted the shows over earlier. Especially on weeknights.

This is the first year, they have learned a lot. They had no idea what to expect for car counts and so on. There is over $140,000 purse on the line here as well. We can see this event grow into something special in the future.

I guess the track would be good with itbeing cool and moist duh I think next year I saving up my coins and going to the dwtc went home last night early 20 bucks toseea regular show booo

I agree. Just look at the the IMCA Boone SuperNationals. They're seen the modified car count litterally increase by 10 times over from their first attempt at the race in the early 1980's.

I'm not saying I expect that kind of exponential growth for this show, but with some changes, this thing could be huge in 5-10 years.

Just my opinion but next year, this should be a 2 day show only. There is no reason the B-mods, sportsman, street stocks, and crates should have been there 3 days unless you run them the same format as the late models and mods. Run the heats one night and the semi's and features the next night.

early starting times.

When I found out at the beginning of the season that there was going to be a 3 day show at pevely, I put in for my vacation that week. That way if the times were going to be different I wouldn't have to worry about being late or getting up early the next day. Just a thought for next season. jmo

And so far this has been a wonderful vacation. The track has been AWESOME. Fast Fast Fast. And I had my choice of seats. Hopefully tonight will be even better than the past 2 nights. Glad to be a part of this history making weekend.

3days of pit passes, paying for pit spot, paying for 4 wheelers,2 days off of work,is the reason we didnt make it down, payout not that great.

Don't forget the UMP member ship card so you can get paid and the $15 receiver fee! Schrader needs the money.

Everyone has a choice and it's a bummer you left early. How can you expect something like this to make it or even get better without everones support? Ya there are a few things that need improving but in all things went good so far. Go support a faraway track if you like, You have that right but don't even open your mouth and bash something you did not give a chance. Now Dirthound I know you showed up for a short time and thats cool, that comment was not for you. I think (only my oppion) is 5pm is a fine start time and it's nice to see it get over at a nice time so if you do work the next day (like I did) you still can get some sleep and the track can still get there quite time. 10pm) No matter where you race, if it's during the week it's hard to do. So don't just point fingers that way. It's an easy fix, Let me tell you how ...... If your not happy with any of it don't go and don't cry when you haft to drive 3 hours to another track that don't care what you say anyway. :D:D

i think for the sportsmans pure stocks and street stocks the rules had a big part y the car count is so low.UMP needs to follow in imca footsteps all tracks have same rules.no ands buts or ifs.until ump does this the round up will never be big.

If they would fook at the Boone (Ia)Nationals for some pointers,it might help with the future programs. Boone draws nearly 1000 cars from all over the country for their 5 day show....BUT they are IMCA and have been doing it for many years.
