CARTERSVILLE, GA – The StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Tour travels to Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL for a two-day $5,000-to-win event that will be Round 6 of the 2007 season. Competitors will do battle in qualifying and heat races on Friday night, March 16, and then return on Saturday night, March 17 for the B-Main races and the 75-lap main event.

This will mark the first-ever visit of the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series to Deep South Speedway, and competitors will have a chance to check out the track on Thursday night, March 15 during a special practice session from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Deep South Speedway will also be a part of the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series which begins on March 30 and runs through September 30.

The StormPay.com DLMS will also make a special amendment to the tire rule for this event only. Competitors will be allowed to use either an American Racer or Hoosier 70 compound tire for the 75-lap main event.

The 2007 Championship point standings are still wide open going into the Loxley, AL event on the 4/10-mile clay oval at Deep South Speedway. A total of 17 different drivers have competed in all five of the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events held so for this season.

Frank Ingram of Woodstock, GA leads the StormPay.com DLMS National Tour points chase with 448 points. In five races, Ingram has three top five finishes, and is the only driver to finish in the top ten in all five races. Ingram is still looking for a win this season, but he has led 17 laps of competition.

Ingram holds a 22-point lead over the defending StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Champion David Gentry of Lewisburg, TN. Gentry has 426 points with two top fives and four top ten finishes in five starts. Ingram and Gentry are the only two drivers that have completed all 210 laps of competition this season.

A newcomer to dirt late model racing is third in the StormPay.com DLMS National points, and has been turning heads early this season.

Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, GA switched from asphalt late models to the dirt late models for 2007, and has left his mark early and often. Brindle is 32-points behind Gentry, but even more impressive are the two wins, and the two fast time honors the Rookie of the Year point leader has recorded.

Brindle won the season opening Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL on January 8, and then followed that up with a win in Round 4 at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL on February 23. Brindle has three top ten finishes in five starts, and also leads the Laps Led column with a total of 78 laps in front of the pack.

Derrick Rainey of Powder Springs, GA is fourth in the StormPay.com DLMS National points chase with 388 points, six points behind Brindle. Rainey has three top five finishes in five starts, and has led 33 laps of competition.

Shannon Buckingham of Morristown, TN is in the fifth spot with 376 spots after an up and down first five races. On the up side, Buckingham has two wins, both coming last month at East Bay Raceway Park in Rounds 3 and 5. Buckingham would be higher in the points if not for three races he failed to finish. Buckingham has one fast time, and has led eight laps of competition.

Jay Blair of Angie, LA is sixth in points with 364. Blair won Round 2 of the 2007 StormPay.com DLMS National Tour, and has three top five finishes in only four starts. Blair’s top five finishes are a win, a second-place effort, and a third-place showing. Blair has led 21 laps of competition this season.

Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA is seventh with 358 points, and Jeff Fields of Aragon, GA is eighth with 332 points. Turner finished third in points in 2005, and seventh last season in the StormPay.com DLMS points. Fields has finished second and third respectively in the 2005 and 2006 StormPay.com DLMS points standings.

Chris Tays of Corinth, MS and Michael Keener of Temple, GA are tied for ninth in the StormPay.com DLMS National points chase with 318 points. Keener is also second in the Rookie of the Year point standings.

Three drivers just outside the top ten are expected to travel to Deep South Speedway on March 16-17 to try and race their way in. Rookie of the Year candidate Robert Stutts of Murfreesboro, TN with 310 points, Carnell Parker III of Clarksville, TN with 304 points, and Rusty Hoge of Ooltewah, TN with 280 points are 11th through 13th respectively in the StormPay.com DLMS National point standings.

Other entries are expected from Rookie of the Year candidates Jim Till of Greenville, AL Kody Barber of Bogalusa, LA, and Jake English of Greenville, AL. Also expected are the 2006 StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region Runner-Up Terry Mosley of Gilbertville, AL, and veteran Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS.
