Dirt race at Edward Jones Dome in December 16

No Generators will be allowed! There will be electric available to all competitors.

After monster jam this weekend, one thing is for sure. There will need to be something done to ventilate better. By the end of the night you could smell the fuel and exhaust pretty heavy. Made my blood pump, but I dont think everyone shared my opinion.

The floor is plenty big enough to do a track larger than 1/5 mile. But I can see if the size is limited by insurance and safety regulations.

I talked to a few of the decision makers while there. They said theyll have to attend a few dirt races early this season to get a feel for it, but theyre super excited to be able to bring something like this to their building. This hasnt been done in a long time (large scale indoor late model show) and theyre ready to do what it takes to make this show a blowout and show the whole country the dome isnt dead. After the way Kroenke left, I can see why they feel they have something to prove.

I really hope this is done well. I've already had four people tell me they plan to attend and to the best of my knowledge, none of them attended a single dirt track race last year. Hopefully the event in December will leave a good taste for modified and late model racing

Hey Kevin, I would assume if no generators are aloud then teams aren't aloud to stay in their toters or trailers either? Do they have the power and outletd to power all these big trailers that will be attending?

when SX is there the teams drop their trailers inside and park the trucks/toters outside so I would assume it's going to be like that.

It's interesting that some of the "decision makers" are saying they are going to have to go to some dirt races to see what they have gotten themselves into. You would think that instead of going to an outdoor dirt track they would have been at the Chili Bowl to see how its done successfully. But maybe they did and are talking to the folks there, who knows.

I hope it really takes off, it would be great to have some kind of major league fixture every year at the Dome. But I just have no clue how you can throw a dirt race and make any money on it at that scale right for your first event. The Chili Bowl started small and has grown into what it is now but it does take time for stuff like this to get established and make a name for itself and get through all the teething problems to be successful.

I hope someone who is behind this has very deep pockets and is willing to commit to it long term to recoup their investment. If not, it wouldn't surprise me for this to be "one and done."

The other issue is weather. One good snow or ice storm the week of and you just killed your field of cars who won't risk driving any distance to it, fans who will make their decision on the day, etc. I don't see advance ticket sales doing much, just because of the weather risk of cancellation.

And cancellation the week of or close to the day is the worst possible outcome, because by then you've already done all the work and committed a lot of money and time to organization and promotion just to not have an event at all. Total loss of all you put in, gotta do it all over and spend double the amount in costs just to have one event. That is always the worst fear of any promoter of outdoor stuff, weather stopping the show when you have already spent the money to make it happen.

SX in February was always brutal to go to, I was really happy when they moved that to April. Might be an idea for the organizers of this big event to make it an April Fools Day show, open the Midwest racing season indoors when you can at least count on the weather to be good enough for people to be able to drive to it.

December just isn't good with fans either, people are spending on Christmas, traveling for the holidays. That's taking a risk of losing potential ticket buyers to other stuff. April would work with tax refunds coming in, etc.

Just my thoughts.

Isn't that the point of running in December, no other racing is going on. By April, Lucas and WoO are in full swing on their schedule and I am sure that April is a prime time for the Convention Center to hold conferences. Don't limit your car count by holding it during the racing season.

The weather in December isn't too bad around here, shouldn't be an issue.

I think December gives you the best chance of a big car count since no one else is racing, who knows what other types of drivers may give it a try, such as NASCAR, sprints, midgets, etc. Sort of like all the different type of drivers that give the Chili Bowl a shot. I can see Schrader, Wallace, Allgaier, both Dillion boys and others coming to give it a try, some doing double duty.

Who is promoting/responsible for this race?

Kudos to them for trying something like this....I'll support them for the effort at minimum and who knows it might just turn out to be an awesome event.

Cody Sommer along with Ashley and Jeremy Burnett, with assistance from KG.

I to hope it is successful and can become a possible annual event. Props to those sticking their neck out giving it a try. We've all been around long enough to know there will probably be unexpected issues that arise. Hopefully nothing major. But rather things that can be tweaked and learned from for the future. But of course we will have the trolls that will pick every little thing apart. The joys of promotions. Lol
