Does this remind you of a certain Fri. night track?

Does dirt hound fancy himself as some sort of Woodward and Bernstein, LOL? Makes you wonder who "Deepthroat" is. :)

Well..i heard the official deal today..and its nothing surprising. No..its not Bubb Smith..or anyone thats been stated. Official anouncement will be made in couple of weeks..but its for a 2 yr deal.

Yeah, I think I heard the same thing Mike, 2 year deal, no name that has been on here thus far. But, should be good for racing, from what I have heard.

As long as we're going down the anonymous source route, I will say that I have it from a relatively well placed source as to who the "new" promoter will be. Not that I'm going to shout it from the Hilltop or anything. (hint, hint) ;)

Why cut the class with the best competition cut some of that mod excess.

Would UMP let them drop the A-mods and keep the sanction for the LMs? That would leave only the non-UMP classes on the chopping block. The only one of those that get a decent car count would be the B-mods. So that leaves the Street Stocks and Sportsman. Which one has the higher purse? So if it's true that a class is on the way out, it would stand to reason that would be the one.

And besides, they already have a "third" class with the B-mods anyway. It would s-ck for the sportsman racers who would now have to make a decision to make as to whether they want to run B-ville, B-town, or move into another class.

As a fan, though, I'm not holding my breath expecting them to lower the ticket price, and somehow I don't think the racers in the other classes will see their purses go up any just because they drop a class, but we can all hope.

UMP in the past has had a rate to sanction Late Models only, one rate for modifieds only, and then a different rate if your track runs both.

Drop the LM's. Oops, did I just say that out loud? Just kidding.

I hate to see any class get cut, but is it really necessary to run the street stocks on Fridays? There are already two other venues within a reasonable distance to run the SS at on a Friday night, Belleville and Brownstown, so cutting them would really make the show all about racing the upper divisions.

Hell, cut the SS and the B mods, and make it a killer UMP LM/Modified and Sportsman show on Fridays. If the show was cut down to just the premier divisions, and got over at a reasonable time each week, I bet you could get more cars there that wont show now. And the whole night would be just the top three classes.

I run an SS, and even I think it would make a lot of business sense to just promote the hell out of the top classes for a Friday night venue. Strip it down, get the count up, cut the fat as Doug has said, and make it a premier division night only.

If I was running a high end top dollar operation, I would prefer going to a Friday night venue that ran a fast show, with no support classes to eat up track time. After all, if I am running for the big money and the UMP points, I want time to get some sleep, get my car prepped on Sat morning, and get back on the road for another show Sat night.

A venue that allowed me to race and get home at a reasonable time on a Friday night would be very attractive.

Not to mention the appeal to the fan. I mean, you know you get to see the elite divisions race, and get the kids home at a reasonable hour. Cant beat that.

Why cutt street stocks though? street stocks are a really good start for people who decide to race and are "new" at it. Plus, some people who really wanna race and cant really afford any of the other devisions...They have to have a class to run in too.

Well..it all goes down to the curfew issue..and putting on a good show and one people can watch and then go home to at a decent time. 5 classes..is a hard deal to do and get done in a timely matter..dont care who is running the show. Bad wrecks...getting things lined out..plus all the business end of the deal during 1 nights of a SHOW. Trust me..its not an easy deal..and kinda knew if someone got it...something had to go. Personally...i love the sportsmans..even if i drive one. But..its a business deal..and its understandable. B mod class grew alot..Late Models..ehh..soso alot too. But..they bring accessories! A mods...thats a tough class..cause lots of long cautions..not too many green to green features..but..then again..lots of accessories come with the expensive cars. Money talks nowadays..and thats how things roll on.
