RSC Equipment Rental, Integrity Interiors and Boling Heating, Cooling and Electrical teamed up to provide sponsorship for the annual Street Stock Special at Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) on Saturday night with threatening skies surrounding the area. A total of ninety six cars signed in to compete in the four racing divisions including thirty one street stocks racing for the $1,000 to win feature event. The weekly race program was a quick one to beat the weather and included the mighty modifieds, ULMA late models, and b-modifieds. Fans were treated to some exciting racing action throughout the evening with eighteen races for the special racing program.

The $1,000-to-win RSC Equipment Rental Street Stock Special was a race to remember for Don Danner when he won the 25 lap A-main feature. The race was another barn burner for this competitive division with talented drivers from Missouri and Kansas registered to race for the big payout. Danner raced hard to his second heat race win of the year ahead of Jeff Lazenby and Carl Lewis. The heat two checkered flag was another tight one with Chad Eickleberry ahead of Charlie Laizure and Bob King driving the 8m car of Eric Crane. Brain Johnson won heat three ahead of Kyle Covert and Terry Schmidt. The fourth heat was exciting with Marc Carter winning ahead of Ted Welschmeyer and Nick Bennet. B-Main transfers were Stephen Barber, Herb Danner, John Miller, Chris Culbertson and Jake Conley. Danner and Eickleberry started on the front row for the 25-lap feature with Eickleberry leading early ahead of a hard-charging Danner, Carter and Johnson. An early spin by King caused a first lap yellow and he had to leave the track with mechanical problems. Eickleberry continued to look strong after the re-start early on along with Carter, but both drivers had to leave with mechanical problems later in the race. Other drivers had various mechanical issues on lap ten including Bennet, John Miller, Jimmy Ngo, Covert and Conley. Nathan Himes then started to make his presence felt with a great run from a seventeenth place start up into the top five. The battle up front continued with Danner now leading and Johnson just behind along with Himes in the mix. Finally, the double checkers flew for Danner gaining his first feature win at CMS this year. Johnson had a strong run into second and Himes with the hard charger of the night into third place. After the top three, Carl Lewis finished in fourth, Tyler Schmidt in fifth, Jerry Schmidt in sixth, Jeff Lazenby in seventh, Trent Deadmon in eighth, Laizure in ninth and Anthony Ward in tenth.

The mighty modified feature was once again a great show with multiple passes throughout the race with a talented field of twenty five drivers from the Missouri-Kansas City area. Three heat races were completed to set up the feature starting lineup with Tom Charles winning heat one, Chad Lyle in two and Tim Karrick in three winning the action packed heat races. Charles and Lyle led the 20-lap feature event with three wide coming into turn two when Karrick dove to the low side grabbing the lead on the tacky racing surface. Lyle and Charles were close behind applying pressure to close in just behind Karrick several times. Chad Lyle dropped a drive shaft on lap fourteen while in second place at the time and had to leave the track for the night after a good run at the front of the pack. Dustin Boney was also moving up through the field after being placed in the back of thefield on a lap two incident and finished in eighth place. Meanwhile a battle for third developed with Joe Walker and Jim Moody on the low side and Terry Schultz on the high side on lap sixteen. Eventually, Karrick pulled away from the field for his second feature win at CMS this year with Charles settling for a solid second. Walker finished in third with Schultz beating Moody to the line for fourth completing the top five.

The ULMA late model car counts have been consistent this season at CMS and Saturday night was no exception with three heat races for the evening’s race program. Bob King won easily in heat one, Shad Badder in heat two and Jamie Wineland looked strong in heat three with action up and down the track. King and Badder were on the front row pacing the eighteen drivers to the green flag into turn one at the start of the 15-lap main event with King out quickly taking the early lead. Badder tried to pass King during a lap five re-start on the low side, but had to leave the race after hitting the wall coming out of turn four. Chad Clark inherited second place then Brett Rollert passed him on the high side to grab the spot. A lap twelve caution came out when Steve McDowell went into the infield in turn one with a flat tire. Rollert then set his sights on King and even made a few late race passing attempts on the high side, but could not get by King. Bob King’s car was too strong once again and he was able to hang on for his sixth feature win of the year. Rollert followed in second and Clark, Steven Clancy, Fred King and Jason Estes were battling throughout the race for positions in the top five spots.

Another strong field of twenty one b-modifieds were competing at CMS to see if someone could beat Scotty Martin, who may be the hottest driver in the area this year. The b-modified races produced some action packed side by side racing around the track and it took three heat races to set the starting positions for the 15-lap feature event. Ethan Issacs wins in heat one with Brain Zigler in heat two and Jeremy Lile in three for his first heat race win of the year. Issacs and Zigler led the field into turn one at the drop of Hershel Thompson’s green flag. Unfortunately for Issacs the car developed a problem and he was finished for the night leaving track early with Zigler now in command. Darren Posten and Mark Evinger were just behind Zigler until Scotty Martin started to move up around lap seven. When Joshua Jacobs spun on the next eight bringing out the yellow flag, Zigler was holding steady in the lead ahead of Martin. Posten then spun his car on the back straight on lap ten bringing the field back together once again. Zigler held on with Martin on his tail for the remainder of the race and won his second feature of the year with the crowd roaring as he passed the finish line. Clint Lyle drove strong into third with Mark Evinger in fourth and Michael Mullins in fifth with a solid run from a twelfth place starting position. Bobby Raybourn also had a strong run from a sixteenth place start on row eight to finish in sixth.
