Inside Line Promotions - SAPULPA, Okla. (Oct. 31, 2018) - Jack Dover made the most of a long trip to Oklahoma last weekend to race in the John Christner Trucking Fall Fling with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com.
Rain wiped out Friday's opening night, setting the stage for a one-day event at Creek County Speedway on Saturday. It marked his debut at the track.
"That's 14 hours roundtrip," he said. "It's a long ways to go for one day. I wanted to race so I decided to go. I just couldn't get a handle on the car all night. We made everything super soft and just couldn't get it soft enough. I've never had the car as soft as I was until that night. I soften up the bars and shocks so it'd bite more. It still wasn't good enough."
Dover advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race before he finished 10th in a qualifier. That relegated him to a B Main.
"We went out for the B Feature and I threw some crazy stuff at it," he said. "It was a lot better, but wasn't great. It's stuff we haven't tried before so now I know what it'll do. We took a bad night and turned it into something decent."
Dover advanced into the fifth position, but he spun to avoid a driver in front of him who'd spun out with approximately three laps remaining. Dover called it a night following the incident and headed to the pits.
