Matt Henderson, 15, drives the #17 Team GRT Late Model at Laurel Mountain Speedway in Madison, TN. Matt races with the help of his mother and father, Chris and Mark.
Matt got into racing through Richie Hodge. Richie was already driving a car, so Matt helped him out and decided he wanted to race. Matt liked Dale McDowell at the time he got his race car and used his number. Matt now likes to watch Jimmie Johnson race.

Matt’s biggest influence in racing has been Richie Hodge. Matt hopes that his future plans take him to the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. His career highlight was winning the Laurel Mountain Speedway track championship. Matt’s scariest moment came when his friend, Junior Robinnette, spun out on the back straight away and he had nowhere to go. Somehow he squeezed by Junior without a scratch.
