Drivers in the snow

Why is it I hear on the radio that people with SUVs and 4X4s are causing all the accidents because they drive too fast when it snows.

This morning I'm driving in and I pass an older Honda accord in the fast lane scooping snow with the front end all the while the guy is busy tapping his brake and talking on the cell phone.

Next, I come up on a PT cruiser with the guy talking on the cell phone and driving 20 mph on the section of hi way thats clear.

Then finally I come up a guy with a 2 wheel drive pick up driving in the center lane with the dome light on reading the paper.

If I hear another person complain about me driving to fast in my 4X4 I think I will scream.

if you would of been driving a normal speed and stayed behind the first guy in the old honda you would of never ran up on the other guys. ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks' the guy in the old honda:D
 
ive been out all night in the snow and back again this morning pulling people out, most of them have no buisness driving much less in the snow. some accidents are due to speed but most are due to stupidity like slamming on the brakes ect.ect..ect. if i come up by you in my 4wd i will be careful and decent when i pass but if poeple are driving 10mph on a decent road with a pos vehicle im gonna drive on by probably make you nervous when i do, and then when they are in the ditch on my way home i will honk and wave when i drive by. all it takes is a little commen scense, which a lot of people dont have!
 
some times even when you try really hard you still can't fix stupid. hey sport when you drive back bye and wave. duck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)
 
i have no need to duck, i respect others when i drive but sometimes you have no choice but to pass and be on you way.
 
Couldn't believe what I heard on the radio!

Yesterday morning, as I was sitting at my kitchen table having another cup of coffee because the Waterloo schools were closed :)D), I heard a ridiculous woman call KMOX radio and complain to Charlie Brennan about the MO highway dept. trucks driving 8-trucks-across in a staggered line down the south-bound lanes of I-55, scraping the snow off the highway. She was in a 4-wheel-drive vehicle doing 55 mph going north (and no, it wasn't dirtgirl). She said the cars behind all of those trucks couldn't pass them because they had the highway blocked! Those cars were only going about 20 mph or so behind those big trucks with snow blades! I just about spit out my coffee! How dumb could she be?

I guess she didn't realize that those same trucks had already cleared off her side of the highway so she could do 55 mph going north. What an idiot! And, she was driving way too fast!
 
I was going southbound at Richardson road and saw them. she is stupid!! their were 10 not 8 and it was a cool looking site. I thought!!!
 
I think the whole SUV and 4WD thing is because some people(not all) think that because they have 4WD they can go as fast as they want without endagering themselves or others. As far as speed goes, it makes no sense whatsoever to say you can go faster because you have 4WD. You still have to know how to drive no matter if you have 4WD or not. Just because a salesman tells you that you have 4WD for the winter, don't think that it drives itself through the snow.
 
If we're keeping score, on my way home on 70 from O'fallon to Warrenton. I saw three small cars being pull out of the ditch and and 1 toyota tundra.

I thought about offering to pull the small cars out with my 4X4 but, I figured they would sue me if there was any damage to there cars.
 
ya, we always get blamed for the wrecks in the 4x4's. People with cars should stay off the road if they don't like how fast we drive.
 
HEY BOBBY SOMETIMES THOSE LILCAR ARE HELPING TO KEEP THOSE 4X4S RUNNING ME I like 4x4s MEAN MORE MONEY IN CO , POCKET WHEN THEY BREAK AND DUMMY YOU GOTTA TURN AND STOP IN THE SLOP ALSO JUST WORDS OF THE WISE OH BY THE WAY 4 X4 TURNED AROUND AFRAID IF GETTING STUCK MY 2 WHEEL DRIVE RANGER JUST KEPT GOING LIL WEIGHT IN THE TRUCK AND SOMEBODY WHO DRIVES ALL DAY WILL GET IT DONE
 
ya u gotta go slow when u stop though. Its hard in a big, heavy truck, but on roads without lights or stop signs, thats when u can go a little faster
