Lincoln, Ill. (May 11) – For the first of three times this season, Lincoln Speedway will work with an area Saturday night facility to provide a shot at some extra cash. The Late Model class will be featured in the first Central Illinois Shootout on May 22nd. One night earlier, Spoon River Speedway will host the first leg of the Shootout. The top five finishers in total points for the weekend will be eligible for an extra $1000 points fund. The forty-lap affair will pay $500 to win in the class geared toward Steel Block Late Models. No aluminum block car will be permitted to run on the 22nd. This is a change from a weekly event, where aluminum block cars are allowed to strap eighty pounds in front of the bell housing and run at the ¼-mile Logan County Fairgrounds oval.

Grandstand admission for the event will be $12.00. Pit passes are $25.00. The pit gates open at 2pm, with Hot Laps at 4pm and the first Heat Race to follow at 5pm. Two more installments of the Central Illinois Shootout are upcoming. July 3rd will feature Fairbury Speedway Sportsman. August 28th will again be combined with Spoon River Speedway for a 40-lap UMP Modified event.
