Here are the heat race results from the first night of the best Western Bill Oldani Memorial for UMP Modifieds at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. Each six mile heat was run without a caution flag and each heat averaged over 103 miles an hour. Of note were the troubles suffered by defending and three time DuQuoin winner Brian Shaw of Robinson who dropped out while leading his heat with engine woes, and Curt Rhodes of Taylorville a former winner of the Illinois Fall Nationals at Springfield who also dropped out of his heat with engine trouble.
