CARTERSVILLE, GA – East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL has joined the growing list of weekly dirt tracks that will be sanctioned by the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division for the 2016 season. East Alabama Motor Speedway will also host two big paying races at the end of the season.
The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division now has 18 different tracks in eight different states that will run Street Stocks under a common set of rules where drivers at each track will compete for a Track Point Fund and against each other on a national basis through a National Points system.
“We’re looking forward to showcasing our Street Stock drivers on the National Stage through the NeSmith Performance Street Stock Division public relations efforts and giving them a chance to race for some good money in the National point fund,” East Alabama Motor Speedway Track Manager William Thomas said. “The NeSmith Street Stocks are moving forward with their rules package by making it more economical and easier to build a Street Stock.”
The 2016 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division season for National points will be for 27 weeks from March 21, 2016 through September 25, 2016. During the 27-week season, a driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will count towards their National total. The $5,000 NeSmith Performance Parts National point fund will pay $2,000 to the National Champion and pay back ten spots in the final point standings.
The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division also gives competitors economical options with both engines and chassis. NeSmith Street Stock competitors have the option to compete with a replica frame that features the same dimensions and weight as a 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo metric frame.
NeSmith Street Stock competitors also have the option of using the $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine, which is quickly becoming the engine of choice due to its price, ease of accessibility and maintenance, and durability. Eight of the top ten drivers in the 2015 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings, including the top four drivers, were using the Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.
