Dunn, NC (April 26, 2006)- The Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports team and
driver Earl Pearson Jr. will compete at Hagerstown Speedway this Saturday
night in a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event. The
50-lap feature event will pay the winner $10,000 to win and a strong field
of competitors is expected at the event. Earl has had success in the
past at the famous facility winning numerous events there over the past
five years. Earl the current 2005 series champion has one win this year
on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and is in second place in the
2006 series point’s standings just 10 points behind Donnie Moran for
first place.

Earl and the team competed at the Lowe’s Dirt Track in Concord NC this
past weekend in the Colossal 100 that paid $50,000 to the winner of the
100-lap feature event. The Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports team was
looking forward to this event and had high hopes of doing well but racing
luck sometimes prevents success. After hot lapping Earl was considered a
favorite to set fast time for the event. Unfortunately in his first lap
of group qualifying Earl suffered a left rear flat tire that resulted
in a poor qualifying time. From there Earl started deep in the heat race
and was caught up in a wreck caused by another car and ending his heat
race run. Earl then started 12th in the C-main and finished 3rd to
transfer into the B-main. Earl started 24th in the B-main and was in a
transfer position for the 100-lap feature event when again he was caught in
another wreck caused by other competitors that ended his night with a
busted radiator.

“We just has bad luck all weekend. Flat tire in qualifying, wreck in
the heat race and another wreck in the B-main. Its disappointing because
we had a really good car in the B-main and felt like we would have been
real good in the feature, but that’s the way it goes sometimes, that’s
racing. We’ll head to Hagerstown this weekend and try again”, stated
Earl. “ We’ve won there several times so we are excited about racing
there again. Hopefully we can get that racing luck back on our side this
weekend”, Earl went on to say.
