Moments after capturing the Modified Main event with and impressive run, Terry Phillips jumped in his GRT and lead every lap from the pole in caturing night three of Early Thaw action. The combined wins were worth $4000 to the Springfield, MO pilot who has had to most spectators the fastest modified on the grounds this week, and could easily have three wins in that division. Rick Eckert chased Phillips the entire distance while Steve Francis closed in the final circuts. A late race caution may have cost Francis as least second as he was poised to move around Eckert in traffic when the races only caution was displayed with four to go.

Notes:
After leading both the previous Modified main events, Terry Phillips finally broke through and scored the Mod win. It was the TP double up.
John Anderson was scheduled to start the A-Main 8th, however he scratched and his spot was taken by Terry Belcher.
Mark Voigt appeared to finish third in the second B-Main and transfer to the A. However, he was disqualified and Dave Tyrchniewicz who finished seventh was the beneficiary of Voigt’s misfortune.
Don O’Neal was back in the 71 car he won with on Saturday night. O’Neal was on the move in the main after starting 13th. He was knocking on the door of fifth when with four laps to go he lost power and coasted to a stop at the entrance to turn three.
Steve Francis seemed to have his ignition problem worked out. After starting eighth, he appeared to be the fastest car on the racetrack and was beginning to pressure Eckert for the second spot in lapped traffic when O’Neal’s caution came out. If not for the yellow, Francis would have surely taken second and might have scored the win.
Billy Moyer started last in his heat race and could only advance to sixth. He started ninth in his B-Main and took the victory setting up a 14th starting spot in the A. He managed to follow O’Neal through traffic and snagged sixth place on the final lap.
Chris Smyser’s bad luck continues on. After being taken out in Saturday’s B-Main in a transfer spot, and a victim of Sunday’s flagging fiscaso, he was again running in a B-Main transfer spot when he spun off the track.
Jack Sullivan continues to pass the most cars in both classes but he has nothing to show for all the efforts. He was in a transfer spot after starting deep in the B-Main and was forced off the racetrack. In the Mod A-Main, he was battling with Willy Kraft for fourth when the two made contact and both spun.
Trevor Glaser, Rob Mayea and Lonnie Parker Jr. continue their impressive Early Thaw runs as each he has made all three A-Main in the late model division.
