ISOM, KY – Eddie Carrier Jr. became the 15th different winner in 16 races for the O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series this season as the Salt Rock, WV native picked up the win Friday night at the Mountain Motor Speedway Express.

After two aborted starts, Whitney McQueary and Eddie Carrier Jr. brought the field down to the green flag with McQueary winning the drag race into turns one and two. Carrier tucked in line in second with Tim Tungate, DJ Wells, and David Powers following. A lap four caution kept the field tight and Carrier used the restart to look under the Dunnville, KY native in a bid for the lead. McQueary shut the door off turn two as Carrier now had a rear view mirror full of Tungate.

The nip-and-tuck racing among the top five stayed the same throughout the first half of the event as McQueary, Carrier, Tungate, Wells, and Powers were all five nose-to-tail and could have been covered with a blanket. A lap 17 caution for debris slowed the pace and, under caution, race leader McQueary fell to the infield with a flat tire. During the same caution period, fourth-place Wells also dropped to the infield with a flat.

Carrier now assumed the point with Tungate, Powers, Mike Jewell, and Anthony Adams rounding out the top five. On the restart, Tungate looked for a pass on Carrier, but to no avail. As the final ten laps of the race ticked off, Carrier would stay in the basement forcing Tungate to look high for a potential race-winning pass. A lap 24 caution set the stage for a six-lap dash to the finish, but Tungate could not build up enough steam to get a good run on Carrier.

When the checkered flag fell, Salt Rock, WV's Eddie Carrier Jr. became the 15th different winner in 16 races for the O'Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series in 2005. His Grover powered Rocket Taurus carries sponsorship from Carl Grover Motorsports, E.I. Rail Car Engines, Railway Equipment, Blue Ridge Machinery & Tools, Simpson Race Products, and Poske's Performance Parts.

"Winning this race is a big morale booster for our team," Carrier said after the race. "It's great to win here as I consider this one of my home tracks. I ran one of my first ever races here and I still have lots of friends and family down here."

Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY finished second in the Guardian Mortgage/J&L Title sponsored AMS/Rocket Monte Carlo. Salyersville, KY veteran David Powers was third in the JMC Motorsports/Green's Lawnmower sponsored Cropper/MasterSbilt Monte Carlo. Scottsburg, IN's Mike Jewell claimed fourth in the Southern Indiana Drilling/Morgan Foods/Bullock/MasterSbilt Grand Prix. Rounding out the top five was Whitesburg, KY driver Anthony Adams in the Phillip Hall owned A&R Trucking/K&E Trucking sponsored Cornett/Rayburn Grand Prix.
