NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship contender Carl Edwards drove a NEXTEL Cup car around Talladega Superspeedway’s 2.66-mile tri-oval for the first time Wednesday, testing the #17 Fords of Roush Racing teammate and NEXTEL Cup Championship Contender Matt Kenseth. Lately Edwards has been on the racetrack most weekends and during the week, too, testing cars for Roush as he was today at Talladega. This weekend, he will qualify the #99 NEXTEL Cup car at Dover on Friday, fly to Las Vegas to run the Craftsman Truck Series race that evening, then fly back to Dover to run the Cup race on Sunday. The next week, the NEXTEL Cup Series will make its way to Talladega Superspeedway for the EA SPORTS 500, the third race in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup.(Talladega Superspeedway)(9-23-2004)
