Fulton, MS (11/11/09) – Last weekend Eric Cooley had an experience that that he will never forget as he qualified for the 6th Annual Southern Belle Cotton Pickin’ 100 feature grid in his first ever event in a Super Late Model.
Eric had an incredible weekend as he made his Super Late Model debut at the 6th Annual Cotton Pickin' 100 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi. The last minute decision was made for Cooley to pilot a Henderson Motorsports entry for the event. With sixty Super Late Models signed in for battle in the $15,000 to win/$1,000 to start event, Eric qualified third fastest in his group to earn the third starting position for heat race action in the #33 Henderson Motorsports Mastersbilt. In the heat, Cooley would advance to a second place finish behind national driver, Steve Casebolt, which locked him into the 10th starting position for the 100 lap feature. Eric's goal in the feature was to log as many laps as possible to gain experience. He would achieve his goal as he kept his nose clean and recorded a 17th place finish against a stout field of competitors in his first ever Super Late Model start.
Eric’s next slated event will be the 9th Annual Possum Town Grand Prix at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi on November 27th-28th. Cooley, who is the 2009 NeSmith National Late Model Series Champion, will take part in the NeSmith Crate Late Model portion of the show in his #33c Cooley Motorsports/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer Crate Late Model.
