Fulton, MS (9/09/09) – Eric Cooley took part in an extremely busy, yet successful Labor Day swing that saw him pilot his #33c Cooley Transport/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer Crate Late Model to a pair of fast time awards and his first ever NeSmith National Late Model Series win!
Eric kicked off a busy holiday weekend tonight at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Mississippi with the NeSmith Late Model Series. Eric set fast time in time trials to earn the pole position for the 40 lap feature event. Eric would lead the first few laps before slipping back as far as the third position. He would ultimately rebound to finish in the second position behind Mathew Turner in the $2,000 to win event.
Saturday night found Cooley Motorsports in action at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi with the NeSmith Late Model tour. Thirty-one entries were on hand for the 50 lap event, and for the second night in a row Eric set fast time to earn the pole position for the $2,500 to win program. Eric led the first 43 laps before tenth starting Mathew Turner briefly took control of the lead on lap 44. One lap later Eric took control of the lead to go on to take the win, which was his first NeSmith National tour win.
Eric wrapped up the busy Labor Day weekend on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi for the third NeSmith National tour event in as many nights. The $2,000 to win event drew thirty entries and Eric qualified 5th fastest to lock into the feature event. During the course of the 40 lap event, Eric would advance to a 4th place finish. At the conclusion of the weekend's events, Eric had extended his points lead in the NeSmith National standings to 102 points.
Cooley Motorsports will take the upcoming weekend off from racing as they have traveled to Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio to enjoy the World 100.
