Friday night was the Red Griffin Memorial race with the winning purses of all classes doubled. Red was a very well liked area racer in the sixties and seventies, he passed away over the winter. Red's son Rocky Griffin and grandson Jason Feger still race. With 29 late models on hand, Jason Feger got close to the track record with his fast time of 12.455 seconds. Feger also won his heat over Eric Smith and Richie Hedrick. The second heat went to Wes Steidinger over Donnie Walden and Matt Taylor. The final heat went to Dennis Erb Jr over Darren Freidman and Joe Harlan. The semi feature went to Jeff Byers over Jr Shickel. The large amount of recent rains left the track soft with a lot of grip, so attrition was large in all classes. The late model feature had a tough time getting started, with a few restarts, then polesitter Feger would pull of with tire problems on the second lap. The race went to Wes Steidinger leading all but one lap, about half way through, Erb had passed him, but on the next lap broke a wheel and was done for the evening. Steidinger would go on the win the feature over Steve Sheppard Jr and Matt Taylor.
