FASTRAK LM Mid West Tour Guarantees $200 Tow Money for rain outs in 2008.

The FASTRAK Racing Series, known to be the series that takes care of their teams and tracks, announces a rain out policy for both teams and track owners. Every team coming to a Touring event in the SE United States will be guaranteed a minimum of $200. “It cost a lot of money to run up and down the road. Fuel has gotten ridiculous and we appreciate the teams that race with us", said Founder Stan Lester. This is just one more way we can give back to them for supporting FASTRAK”. Rules for receiving “tow money” are posted at the bottom of this release.

The teams are not the only ones that will receive money for inclement weather. Tracks will be paid $1000 for any event that is rained out as well. “No different than the teams the tracks have a large investment and this is simply a way to help them with their expenses for the night. Rain is something none of us can help but if I were a track owner and FASTRAK wrote me a check for $1000 if the race were rained out, I sure would appreciate it. It takes all of is to make this work and hopefully this gesture makes a difference in the way people see our Series. FASTRAK really is a family affair. I know that sounds corny to some people, but if they have spent much time with us, they know exactly what we mean. All of our people affiliated with FASTRAK are close and that really makes a difference with how things are done. Just so all the tracks know, this is not something the track itself has to pay. This is furnished 100% by the FASTRAK Series.

Rules for receiving Tow Money for teams:

• Must rain race out between the hours of 4:00 – 7:00 PM on race day.
• Must rain a minimum of 1/5th of an inch.
• Must be a member of FASTRAK previous to rain out.
• Teams will be mailed checks on Monday following the rain out. (No way to know how many checks to have at the track)

Rules for Tracks to receive $1000 for rain out are the same as above. This is for tracks in the Mid West United States holding a FASTRAK sanctioned Touring event.

"desperate Men

TAKE DESPERATE MEASURES"

It appears that FASTRAK is having some problems cracking the UMP strong hold in the Midwest. They now offer "TRAC-AID". One would think with UMP putting a limit on the crate purse along with the NASCAR type payout for regions that, in itself would persuade tracks and cars to the FASTRAK fold.

The $1,000 to promoters should turn some heads-- right??
$200 to to the crate guys would make some pray for rain---Right??

1/5th inch of rain? Hell we can sneeze that much moisture in a cheap rain Gage!!!

Call it between the hours of 4-7 not a problem.
Very innovative to say the least. "TRAK-AID".

Understanding that $1,000 may not pay a promoters expenses to race time but it is still a good subsidy.

What about all the other cars that come to the track to race? Many are on their way or at the track by by 4:00 pm.

What happens when they feel after signing in and unloading that the promoter may have called a race a little premature. Promoter gets his grand and the crate guys get their 200 bucks.

So now with a threat of rain do other classes pull to another track to avoid a quick call.

If it rains 3 inches during the day and in previous years the race would have been called early. Now what can happen is the crates can go sign in and the promoter can call the race at 4 . The promoter take his wife out for dinner and the crate guys can beat down the highway to another track.

In the INTERNET world the promoter would be hard pressed to tell all the other classes not to come because it would be public knowledge in minutes.

Of course not all promoters would try to work the system this way but ya know how things are at times.

So while subsidizing tracks and drivers sounds great at first blush, I could see all the other classes being rather upset at a rain out knowing that the promoter and the CRATE guys were being subsidized while they packed their stuff up and went home empty handed.

Guess I'll wait and see what promoters jump on the "TRAC-AID" deal

It just may work!!!

Rain Insurance

First off, the rain insurance has nothing to do with UMP. This is FASTRAK's way to try and help out the racer that has pulled to a track only have it rained out. This way at least a fuel bill might be reimbursed for a teams time and effort. Also, if it rains then stops and the race is run, it was my understanding that the insurance still pays if all the requirements were met.

I haven't heard of any other sanctioning body trying to take care of their racers. I am very proud to be apart of FASTRAK and their forward thinking.
