(MARION, IL) The Fastrak Champions Series Late Models will fire up and roll out onto Midwestern dirt for the first time at Montgomery County Speedway in New Florence, MO on April 30, the Midwest Region Points Championship opening event. The strategy of mating a full-blown Late Model chassis with a GM crate engine on Goodyear tires has proved to be a winning formula in the Southern and Mid-Eastern regions, with close to 200 members scattered across more than 10 states.

Midwest Region promoters Kevin and Scott Ferguson are extremely pleased with the reception the series has received so far, and cannot wait to see some racing action. “We are really looking forward to opening night and seeing these guys on the track racing door to door; that is what this has been all about from day one,” Scott says. “We started this with two goals: to make Late Model racing affordable for the weekly racer again, and to put on a good show for the fans. We think we have the right combination to accomplish both.”

Racing for the inaugural champions crown will be 2-time NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Late Model Champion Terry James, of Winfield, MO. James is a seasoned veteran with an impressive resume, having won championships in every class he has competed in. In addition to his Late Model titles, James has Modified, Pro Stock, and Sportsman championships to his credit in a career spanning 25 years.

Challenging James will be “Gentleman” Joe Morris, of Galatia, IL. Morris is the 2001 Paducah International Raceway Late Model Champion, 2002 Mount Vernon Raceway Late Model Champion, and 2003 Late Model Champion at Auto Tire and Parts Raceway in Benton, MO.

Also on hand to make his debut in pro Late Models will be multiple kart championship winner Reed White, of Centralia IL. 14-year-old White began racing in 2000, and won his first championship at age 12. This will be his first appearance in a full-bodied car and he is expected to be one to watch over the course of the season.

Montgomery County Speedway is located at 46 South Highway 19 in New Florence, MO. Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for children 6-12, children 5 and under free. Gates open at 5 p.m., racing starts at 7 p.m. For more information contact the ticket office, 573/835-5656 or go online to www.montgomerycountyspeedway.com.
