Fastrak @ Mt. Vernon

I got a call this afternoon that had said that the Fastrak race at Mt. Vernon this sat is now a points race? Is this true? I know it must be a misunderstanding since NOBODY, changes the schedule on wed. for a race that is running sat. Could you please clear this up for everyone?

I told a couple people that you would have posted something if it were a points race and not try to back door a points race.

When was the rest of the world going to find out it is a points race?

So, it is a $1200 to win event , and $100 to start? I guess the normal entry and $30 pitpass as well?

What gives?

Let me see!!! You complain because they book a race 275 miles from your house. Then they book a race 40 miles from your house and you still aint happy. There are very little people upset with this booking but you are!! What gives? Did you need time to help them advertise or what? What can anyone do to make you happy? Where is "cant get right" Are you happy? Probably not!!! What do you people want!!!!!!!!! PS Who is NOBODY? You? Or someone else!!!!!! Quack Quack Quack Quack

PS 2: They let their competitors know.. Who is the rest of the world? I dont think people in Japan would find this to interesting!!!!!

Scott, as your BIG Brother, I must tell you to stay out of it and shut up. You are the biggest complainer to people's backs yet in front of the world you are happy go lucky. Now, stay out of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I asked simple questions and they can answer for themselves. If you have something else to say, call me scott. Come on have some guts scott.

Because Karl is a respected and well thought of member of the racing community, and he has raced in the Fastrak series, The Fastrak family wanted to do somthing to help your brother Karl through these difficult times. Thanks to Rick and Bev Heck, Clearwave communications, Scott Riggs, Morris Excavating Inc. and Ferguson Excavating Inc. We were able to put together the first of, hopefully, many benifit races and other fund raising activities that we will be having through out Karls recovery. Please try and help us to help your brother and his family instead of being critical of everything we do.

Fergy, it is not that helping Karl is not appreciated. I hate how things are changed all the time and no one knew about this being a points race until wed. afternoon. So try and look at things in my shoes. Quit being so parnoid to answer questions and just answer them honestly.

(MARION, ILL.) Clearwave Communications and the Fastrak Champions Series Midwest Region Late Models join forces on Saturday, Sept 10 for a Midwest Region Points event to benefit injured racer Karl Hartung. Karl, a veteran racer across the Midwest in various divisions, finished third in a Fastrak Midwest Region race at Bond County Raceway earlier this year.

And just for information purposes, that is the first paragraph of the official press release that will be out tomorrow night, hopefully, at the latest. Just wanting to get a few things ironed out before I finish it and it goes out.

T.nie: Thank you for putting that there for me to see. I appreciate it.

Scott: You and I are going to have a little talk today little brother..........

The people who needed to know were informed well in advance, the details were not completed until Wed. Most of the drivers knew what was being worked on but were asked to wait until the details were worked out before they said anything..

We "change" because of circumstances that are beyond are control, If we could control the weather and all the race tracks we visit we could set a schedule and it would never change. Why do you think that WOO has cancelled so many races recently?

Why would I "look at things from my shoes". You are not a track owner or a driver in the series. We do what we think is in the best interest of the tracks and drivers who participate with us. We appreciate our drivers fans but if we tried to cater to every drivers fan, we would never get an event done.

Paranoid? Just becuase you do not get "your" question answered does not mean that the action or event in question was not answered. In most cases it has already been adressed.

Are you implying that we do not answer honestly? Your perception of the way the world should be run does not necessarily mirrror ours. If you do not like the way we run the series, racetrack or fund raisers for Karl, then by all means step up and do it your way. If your series, racetrack, and fundraisers for Karl are better, We will come and participate with you. We would not try and destroy everything you do.

Fan? Well, since I do alot of the work on one of your drivers cars and He was not informed of this being a points race until wed afternoon. That means that the car is not ready, and me working on a car two late nights in a row to get it ready means I will be in no shape to be there sat as well.

I never said fundraisers were not appreciated for Karl.

I never said I wanted my own series, I will tell you one thing for sure, I understand why so many are not following you next season due to your attitude toward people that ask questions.

What I have a problem with is this Ferguson's, some people are not ready to go back to that track, and by you forcing them to is not right. It should be exactly what it is a race for Karl and not a points race. You know the media is going to be there, Mt. Vernon has been on the news for so long about the accident anyways. I think this is upsetting. . . . . . Why not have it at Calvert. . . . .. . anywhere but Mt. Vernon, Its just too soon. Not everyone is ready to go back.

People said a series would do this to, force people there for points. Since law suits have been filed I also think its upsetting to have it at the place that's being sued for his injuries.

I cannot believe that how loving and caring you make yourselves appear to the racing community you wouldn't stop and ask yourself how people would feel about returning to a track that people were killed and seriously hurt at just weeks ago. And I have seen pictures of the so called changes they have made, give me a break.

And what's this I keep hearing that you are doing this so people can make up points?

Sounds like somebody needs some MIDOL!
As faras Mt.Vernon is concerned, If you arent ready to go back then dont!
Look, things happen, you cant just stop living your life, you have to find it in you to move on and yeah it hurts, but thats part of it.
AND before you wonder how I can be so cold, its not coldhearted, its reality and I have lived it, MY husband was shot and killed in cold blood, while at work and I myself made a brief attendance to a vigil being held at the very same place, within a few days! I feel for the familys affected, and in time in does get better. Yes I know there are children involved and it will be them that hurt the most because of the lack of understanding...I had 4 under the age of 7 at the time of our tragedy...but its for their sake, we as adults HAVE to be strong and teach them to go on with as close to a normal life as possible.

As far as Saturday night, I think what the FastTrack and Rick is doing is great!
It actually says alot about Rick because even though he is being sued, he is still allowing a benefit to take place at his track, for one of the very people who has filed a suit against him.

See ya Saturday!

*I am posting this on behalf of the Fastrak Champions Series Midwest Region*

The race is a benefit for Karl, at a venue where most of the racers in the series can get to without great expense. Numerous drivers were consulted, the consensus was the drivers and the series wanted to be there to raise as much as possible to help Karl. All remaining Fastrak Champions Series events will be used in some way to fund raise for Karl as well.

It is a points race, because it only seemed fair that if the drivers were coming to the track to help Karl, there was no reason not to award points for the race. It is not an attempt to force anything on anyone.

The Fastrak Champions Series Midwest Region is considering a proposal to schedule a 16th points event, and allowing each points racer to drop their lowest points finish from their overall score. In effect, only the top 15 finishes will be scored. This will allow any racer who does not wish to race at Mt Vernon to still have the same opportunity to score 15 events. Each points racer will be contacted this week and asked to vote on this proposal. This proposal will be voted on by the points racing drivers only.

The Fastrak Champions Series Midwest Region is aware that not every member of the racing community is ready to return to Mt. Vernon. We respect that decision, but we also ask that people respect our intentions to help a fellow racer by participating in the reopening of Mt Vernon Raceway on Sept 10.

The difference is these things happened because someone did not make sure the track was up to code and safe for its racers and fans. Rick was warned about that wall.

fourisme,
the Ferguson's really thought hard and questioned racing at mt.vernon for this simple fact that you just brought up . They dicussed it with severall drivers (including Scott ,Karls brother) ,and they asked Scott if it would help Karl would his family be ok with racing at mt.vernon ,if not then they would not try to race. You don't understand how much they actually do care about how people feel because they really do. Karl raced with us this year at Bond County as well as his brothers so thats why they feel that as a racing family we should do this for Karl in his time of need.

I do understand his time of need and am more than willing to help him and his family,
Mt. Vernon just upsets me, its hard to sit up there looking down knowing what happened. Thats all. . . .

I understand you not wanting to go back knowing what happened but in the same token their are people killed every day on the roads that you travel to get from a to b and more than likely you may have witnessed an accident but we still travel those roads . If you love racing but not sure about coming back to watch yet , just give it some time a come back when you feel comfortable ,but don't condem people that are ready to try. in a situation like this it has no correct answer it is all an individual opinion.

How come they are having a extra point race so ONE driver can catch up in points, people are getting really sick and tired of the Ferguson's playing favorites.

Nobody said it was a sure thing yet. The drivers racing for points are going to vote on it. Who's getting favoritism? I still haven't heard who it is.
