49 Cars etered the second annual "Late Model Blow Out" at Volunteer Speedway Friday night. Shanon Buckingham again proved hard to beat as he sat fast time in qualifying. The top six drivers were then pulled on to the front straight as a drawing in the stands was taking place and 6 lucky fans were "paired" with the top 6 qualifiers. Each fan drew a number as to where their driver would start the main event. The fan that drew the number 1 postion would win $200 in cash and also the driver they were paired with picked up $200 in cash as well. The fan of Shanon Buckingham pulled the nuber 1 pill and the black 44 car started in his orginal quaifying position.
The top 6 were locked in for the main event Then the top 3 from each heat determined the next 15 positions followed by the top 3 from the 2 consolation races determining the balance of the field. Chirs Carlson having an incident in qualifying tagging the wall while trying to make his 2nd lap without ever letting off the gas picked up the provisional for the Mid East Region.
The field was set for 50 lap main event with Buckingham on the point and the 11c of Allen Champ sitting outside. With only 5 cautions during the entire feature event this racing was nothing short of fast and furious as the BUlls Gap high banked track track once again provided 2 and 3 wide racing all night. As the leaders caught lap traffice on several occassions Brad Hall caught Buckingham but was never able to make a challenge for the lead.
Buckingham became the race winner taking home the $2000 pay day.
Look for things to be a little different tonight as once again fans will be a part of the drawing for starting positons for the Quick 6 and laps both fan and driver winning $200 in cash.
Fireworks will be going off tonight as the Fastrak feature event 4 wide "salute to the fans" takes place. Tonights race features a 75 lap main event and the $3000 to win National Purse with double points for all teams.
