Fastrak 1st Year Points Banquet Pays Over $25,000.00

This past weekend the Fastrak Champions Series “Inaugural Season” has now come full circle. Paying more than first announced the Points Championship paid out over $25,000.00 in points and prizes.

The weekend proved to be just as challenging as the entire season or Fastrak as it was the only “ice storm” in the South East United States this year. However like with everything else the drivers, families, crews and management prevailed one again!!

The night went off without a hitch. The Georgian West ballroom at the Holiday Inn in Athens GA hosted the event with a four course meal and afterwards Series CEO Stan Lester took the microphone and led everyone in a word of prayer. Afterwards a brief statement about the 2004 season and what great things were coming for 2005. Lester explained the program for 2005 to everyone including announcing Goodyear as the 2005 spec tire for the Series. Goodyear has also announced a 50% discount program for Fastrak members for members haulers, trailers and commercial trucks.

Carol from CTC photos was first to speak. She announced CTC as the Official photographers for the Series for 2005. Also that they would have the capability of actually printing the photos at each nights event so fans, crews and drivers would not have to wait on photos to have to be mailed to them.

Buster Smith from Dirt Pro Mufflers was also on hand. Buster announced the 2005 “Rookie of the Year” program for the Series as Dirt Pro is providing the award for 2005 of $1000.00.

Of course the moment came for the awards. Everyone first getting a “gag” award with 7th place finished Jamie Nodine receiving a pair of purple star shaped sunglasses along with his trophy, set of tires, jacket and check. Driver Shane Elliot in which Jody Palmer stood in for, received his trophy, set of tires, jacket and check. 5th place finisher was the 111 car of Jeff Helton with Crew Chief J.B. Harris standing in received his toy Dale JR. car, trophy, set of tires, jacket and check. Next in line was the 46 of Chuck Fields for 4th place. Chuck received his flashing toy necklace. Lester said he was so quite they needed a way to locate him. He also received a new set of Goodyear tires, jacket and check. 16 year old A.J. Watson received 2nd place in points and his prizes included a trophy, jacket, set of Goodyear tires and a brand new 05 Masterbuilt chassis, and check. A. J. was also recognized as the “Most Improved Driver” of 2004 along with a unanimous vote for “Rookie of the Year”. Jody Palmer received his trophy, set of Goodyears, check, jacket and a new Fastrak crate engine. At that point Lester thanked everyone for coming and that was the conclusion of the 2004 Awards with a very strong “gleam” from Todd Higdon, the 2004 Fastrak Champion. Of course everyone laughed as Todd made his way to the front of the room. Lester explained how every Champion needed a ring do Lester proceeded to give Higdon a flashing toy ring for his Championship run. Lester then proceeded to award Todd with a set of Goodyear tires, leather Champions jacket, new 604 GM crate engine, a 7 foot tall trophy and his winning check for a grand total of $9000.00 for first place.

CTC Photos was on hand as the new Fastrak “Official” photographers for 2005. They took photos of the drivers, then drivers, families and crews individually then a group shot of all present. Photos will be available on the www.ctcphotos.com web site as well as the Fastrak web site www.fastrakracing.com.

Several people commented on how they had been to so many Points Banquets where everyone ate, received their prizes and trophies then went home. I can assure you almost no one went home this night as almost the entire crowd stayed until the wee hours of the morning just telling stories and having fun. Can anyone imagine what the 2005 Banquet will be like?
